Post Your Mockup and I Will Brutally Eviscerate It (With Words) (4 Viewers)

You really want this from me?

All tri moons are trash.

You already had a set with a workhorse chip with white 3916 spots, and you decided to do it again?

This set looks like it was once a good set but then someone left it out in the sun too long.

But it really doesn't matter what I say, here's a smattering of quotes from your announcement set of this thread. Looks like everyone thinks they are 'really great'.
I'm dead. :ROFLMAO:

Fire set! I worked with octos and love them. Hate your hundred but the .25 and 1 are perfect.
Thank you. For my understanding, what are your issues with the hundred? Colors? Spots? Inlay? All? The cuttlefish is probably my favorite cephalopod so I wanna make sure that one is strong. I like it but appreciate other eyes.

Looking for the first 11/10 score here.View attachment 1004299
I think the current state of this chip set is so far from an 11, no one wants to touch it, because they likely feel it would be too harsh. I find that sets that get help are those that have a theme people can connect to or want to see do better. I think outside of the first 2 images it's hard to connect for the average person. It also doesn't feel like this set is a production set, meaning its not likely that this would get made; It's only been a few months and you don't seem to have really searched the forums, as you're not really asking questions that would seem to be on par with a production set.

Let me give it a go.
1) The cent sign is too large
2) Font would / should be the same across all chips
3) Tri moons in the middle of the set doesn't work here (or just about anywhere)
4) No consistency across the set
5) It looks like c&p job
6) The inserts are all over the place
7) There is simply too much blue in the set.

Thats 'just' 7, but for me 4 / 10, because you didn't use red as your five (+1). With the squid theme it really lends its self to bright colors, go crazy bold with it. Dayglow Orange and black or dayglow blue for the 5, build around that. Outside of the 5 its a really boring set, you've got a great kracken theme just waiting to go, standardize the font, and focus on just one image and go from there.

I know this isn't an easy read, but I hope the spirit and value of the honesty is what is taken.

Oh I have no problem reading this and appreciate the honesty.

I posted it here because I figured there was plenty of ammo. Was kinda hoping CatPants would tear 'em to shreds. I hope that my responses all came across as tongue in cheek, that's how they were intended. I don't actually think it's an 11, I mean do you see my 5?

As for honest feedback, that is greatly appreciated. I like bullet points so here you go:
  • This is the first set I've designed. I'm hoping to refine refine refine over a few years to get to something I'm ready to buy.
  • I think cephalopods are the most wonderful, weirdest creatures on the planet. Aliens. Part of my hope in this set is to mimic some of the weirdness in this set. I definitely have work to do but it's fun and I've got time too.
  • I do take the notes well. I agree about the half-moons. Understand about the font. Agree about the inlays (I specifically don't like the background on the 5 and 25 but haven't worked out anything better). Honestly, I think the most aesthetically appealing version would be to build the set based on the silhouette model of the quarter...but the colors are what make the cephalopod, in particular cuttlefish and octopuses.
  • I hear you about the kraken but I kind of specifically want to work based on each exiting cephalopod group (octopus, squid, CUTTLEFISH, nautilus). It isn't designed as a tournament set or the kraken would be a perfect bounty chip.
    • Maybe I can make a dealer button for "Kraken Aces Cardroom"
I have plenty more thoughts but will continue when appropriate on the mockup thread. For now keep blasting here.

I love weirdest, while I try to note things that bring out the best in sets, I have learned that you have to be able to love the set, and its not always following all of the typical guidelines or taking all of the advice from others, you have to enjoy the set yourself.

I mean, until you get a chip with 8 spots it's hard to review.

But, if you demand...

All tri moons are trash. "But maybe @MrCatPants will like my tri-moon, he just hasn't seen my amazing color combo yet." No. No he won't.

You seem to really like day-glo peacock. It's on 60% of your chips. Don't do that.

There are thousands of fonts out there. Doesn't mean you have to try to use all of them. One font to rule them all.

That 100 - a chip shouldn't have more spots than base color.

Lastly, this all leaves aside how into cephalopods you are...which is, unique. You may want to find a hentai tentacle porn forum to ask about this design.
