Wow, what a trip to be looking at fantasy chips on The Chip Guide, and come across the dollar from my custom set. I only gave out 1 or 2 sample sets to people, one went to Jim Blanchard for this retirement party. Then last year or so, I saw ChipNCats have one of my custom chips up for sale on eBay. I asked Mitch about it and he said it was the only one he had. I figured Jim Blanchard's chips were sold or something.

I apologize for not having a pic at hand. I'm half German so I always liked the coat of arms. The smoking skull (as I like to call the set) was a rip off from a favorite band, Oingo Boingo, art on one of their albums, I just added the Check wording, added the denoms red with white background on the reverse , and gold with black background on the front, ASM did the rest. I was brand new to poker, had no knowledge, but thought I could do it better. Ended up creating a shit ton of denoms with the idea of limit games, ( I really wanted to use all the spots and colors at the time, so I kept coming up with denoms to create), but betting really doesn't happen like the way I thought. For example, ( and funny thing, I have no fracs for the set, just never made any, but wanted to) here are all the denoms I created. I was thinking small blind, big blind, double that, double that, so 1,2,4,8 ;; 1.50, 3, 6, 12;; 2,4,8, 16;; etc... and in my mind, with limited knowledge, I was thinking about a betting structure like that, but that's not really how it goes. And then I created a high stakes tournament set also. But I'm not disappointed with what I did, it's rather unique. Maybe someday I'll make me a proper custom set.

That's pretty awesome! I'm a huge Boingo fan since the 80's. That skull is from the Alive album from 1989. It was pretty much used as their logo from then on.

This is also how I started with the idea for the Suicide King TRK set.

One of the best shows I ever saw was Oingo Boingo @ the Redwood Amphitheater. They played with 2 other bands (Untouchables & Squeeze maybe? Help me out @Big Money because you were probably there too even though i didnt meet you until 35yrs later lol) All I do know for sure is they were halfway thru Reptiles & Samurai when they stopped, apologized for making a mistake that nobody noticed & then started over. Went WAY past curfew...

You were likely a victim on Redd Ott.

ASM/CPC keeps a copy of every chip they make. It is a requirement by some gaming commission. When Jim sold the company to Ott/ASM Vegas, they went under. There was another chipper that never released sample sets who found chips of his on eBay. It was all traced back to Ott.
 
Well, I think you covered every denomination out there!! I can see the staff at ASM talking about "THIS GUY" LOL!!! I'm sure most of us would change some things about our first custom order if we had to do it all over again.

I saw them around 10 times, usually in Irvine or Universal Ampitheater. The best show was when they played a couple shows at the Whiskey in Hollywood for their last studio album. They played as 'The Clowns Of Death' for those shows which is a name mostly known by their fans.

I also went to Danny Elfman's show at the Hollywood Bowl last year. He did a mix of Boingo, showtunes, and his new album. He did the same show again this year, but I couldn't go. Hopefully he plays again next year. I've also gone to see the Former Members band, which is lead by the drummer (Vatos) and other members play according to their availability.

He's also doing the Nightmare Before Christmas show again this year. I went two years ago. Pretty cool if you like the movie.

Had this followed typical value progression - $1, $2.50, $5, $25, $100, $500, $1000 - and then repeating the 5 through 1000 pattern, the last chip in this set would have been $5,000,000,000,000,000,000 (5 quintillion), if I counted correctly.
