Annoying Poker “Shtick” (1 Viewer)

There’s the guy who makes it clear that he thinks this 1/2 table is ridiculous and beneath him so he wants to make it more like 2/5. (Just play solid against this guy.)

At least they want you to think that. One night many years ago playing $1/2NL with my long time cash game crew, people started straddling. It was the first time they did this...and I assumed it was because Borgata (the casino most of us played in) started allowing straddles. These were the same guys who like to make side bets on stupid stuff, etc.

After the first few times I said, “if you guys want to play higher so badly let’s just move to $2/5. Mysteriously there were no takers. Hence why I consider it “poker shtick”.

I announced that was the end of straddles at my game going forward.
