The “I’ll put you all in” thread got me thinking about this. I hate cheesy poker shtick... which I personally consider that more to be than bad etiquette.

I’m wondering what others think.

Some of the top things I that drive me nuts...

Splashing the pot or throwing chips in any way. Just state your bet and place them in a nice stack in front of you! #1 most annoying by far!
Lucky charms of any sort
Sunglasses unless you are playing for $1000s of dollars and then maybe
Quoting Rounders at the table
Showing Rounders on the TV at a home game
Building dopey things out of your chip stacks

Just a few....

We gotta play together sometime. I'll have you tilted inside of 5 minutes.

Except for the sunglasses thing. Sunglasses and headphones at (home games) are pretty dickish. I've never seen Rounders on a tv during a game, so I'm somewhat neutral on that (but why have a movie running instead of music or sports).

Oh, and in my club, I will splash the pot whenever the fuck I please. :ROFLMAO:

I agree with @Gunnar , the guys who wanna make change before the betting round/action is over drives me nuts. Or when the one guy who is terrible at math, wants to be the one who divides up the change. Even worse when there are multiple all ins and side pots lol. It’s a struggle to watch them struggle.

The big one in my game is a handful of folks who take a good 10-30 seconds EVERY time the action is on them. They really seem to enjoy the attention. These are perfectly nice people who are seemingly oblivious to the flow of the game, where most of us, experienced players, typically decide how to play most of our hands within 3 seconds. Once in awhile you need to stop and think, I get it, but every time?

Needless to say, these perpetual tankers are only on my once a month MTT invite list (not my weekly SNGs or occasional cash game lists) and only because they are super nice and mostly super fishy.

So in all of y'all's self dealt games all of your players wait for the dealer to make change after the betting has ended? I wish that were the case in my game. Most of the time the guys I play with will make change as they call a bet. Maybe so they have the correct call amount in front of them? I don't know. But there are only 2 or maybe 3 of us who have ever played poker in a casino so I don't think they know that's a thing.

I see everything listed happen in pretty much every game I play.
...Except, splashing the pot. That does not happen in my home game

I’ve seen this in cardrooms. Sometimes you’ll run into a guy who acts like Feydor Holtz - he’ll do the exact same thing every time the action is on him, which basically means taking 20-30 to fold 8-3 under the gun.

Not necessarily the dealer in our games, but as long as the players involved in the pot wait til the betting/action is done.
Let's say the blinds are 200/400. So the BB puts in a 500 chip and the SB puts in 200, if the BB takes his 100 change before the action goes around it sometimes causes confusion if somebody wasn't paying attention and they look and see 1 500 chip and 1 100 chip in the pot. Stupid little things like that bug me lol.

Guys who raise way too much preflop and then bitch and moan when everyone folds.

People who burn cards and deal the whole board face down all in advance.

Players who don't help with pots and bets if they're not in a hand and sitting in the middle of the table.

And PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY!

- "Oh, it's on me?" every time around the table.
- Slow rolling a winning hand.
- And one guy in our game, one of my best friends, when he has a big hand says "You don't want to raise me?" sometimes when he gets called. Then slow rolls the nuts.
- Someone sneaking a peek at folded cards as they start to shuffle.

I know this man. I've also played golf with him - he's the guy who can't even put on his glove/select a club until all eyes are on him. WTF.

When I am winning, not much bothers me. When I am getting clobberknocked at the table, every little thing bothers me.

My biggest gripe is when you sit in the 1 or 5 seat in a self-dealt home game, and don't help move pots and push cards. Especially when you can't put the phone down (@kirchhausen  :whistling:)

Having to tell someone with cards and chips sitting smack dab in front of them to push the cards or chips after a hand is annoying!

First thing that comes to mind is the "schtick" of roasting the dealer for no reason. There was a guy in the Aria that went off, "...biggest pot I've won all night, and I'm not sharing it with you (dealer). You don't do anything, it's the shuffler doing all the work...." Not funny, not entertaining. If you're not going to tip, keep it to yourself.

-- Agree. This should actually be a rule (if it isn't already) in every game. It affects game play and causes confusion to bet sizes and pot calculations. It's also an easy way for a player to short the pot.

Making change before the betting is over.
-- This is also an issue that can affect game play by causing confusion to bet sizes and pot calculations. It's also another bad habit that I've tried to break myself of over the years, feel free to slap me when I do it, it's wrong.

-- Sunglasses are kinda stupid looking indoors but not a problem (some may wear them for medical reasons). I could care less if you want to go full Unabomber mode with the hoods up as well. But wearing headphones with music playing that "distract you from following the game" or "distracted phone use while in the hand" becomes a "affects game play problem".

But this one..... o_O

Completely agree, a big no no in my game.

Lucky charms of any sort

Guilty of switching up card protectors based on how lucky they're feeling.

Sunglasses unless you are playing for $1000s of dollars and then maybe

Guilty of this. Only done at my home game and it is really more of a joke. Everyone knows poker gets serious when the shades go on.

Quoting Rounders at the table
Showing Rounders on the TV at a home game

Never had this problem. I try to limit anything on the TV as a distraction. Can't fight home team hockey games.

I don't have a problem with this. What I have a problem with is people hiding big chips or worse (but happens rarely) is when someone leaves their chips in a pile without stacking them. I get the most groans about putting big chips in front which I don't understand.

#1 - People talking about the hand, and they are not in it!!
#2 - People who put large stacks in their hand and bet only 2 chips..

Card protector, I like, if thats what your lucky trinket is for, I have scooped in play cards before and I feel really bad about it, so PLEASE, PROTECT YOUR CARDS AT ALL TIMES!!!!

Sun glass dont bother me, it does not effect me or the game, I dont know why it helps, most people are not looking at your eyes for a tell..

But I try to deal with it, I so mention to those who talk to please wait.. For those who bet2 chips with a stack in their hand, I built a table that has a betting line and mentioned that if chips pass the line they are part of your bet, UNLESS, you declare the amount..

I don't mind card protectors of most sorts but fidget spinners as card protectors drive me crazy. Fortunately no-one at my game uses them but if they tried they would be instabanned. Go play with your toys somewhere else.

Or the guy who goes "ughhhh" really loudly, shakes his head, whispers into the guys ear beside him or hits the table after seeing the flop. Indicating he had folded a hand that smashed the flop. J44 flop and he does one of those things pretty much tells the entire table he folded a 4 which affects the players in the hand.

Splashing the pot for the most part.......... especially the flip/lob of chip(s) 18" above the felt so they land in the pot
Pre dealing the board face down
tanking every hand
"I'll see your $xx and raise you $xxx"
effing around on your phone while in a hand
playing out of chip racks ........unless you have a medical condition where this is beneficial for you

But I try to deal with it, I so mention to those who talk to please wait.. For those who bet2 chips with a stack in their hand, I built a table that has a betting line and mentioned that if chips pass the line they are part of your bet, UNLESS, you declare the amount..
I LOL'ed at this, the last time i was playing 2/4 LH at the Flamingo in Vegas there was a local who was drunk AF, he had a pile of chips in front of him, chewing up seats 2-4, and the staff kept telling him to stack his chips, whenever he tried it make it to like 10-12 and then he would accidentally knock them over while in the process of stacking them. That part was quite comical, what was not was the fact that he was a rude MF, and kept insulting people at the table. what was even worse was the fact that the poor basterd was winning with ridiculous hands, several times he boated with the likes of 72o, 93o. People were throwing good hands at him just to be rivered on some horse shit hand. I sat there for a couple of hours with him and watched 4 or 5 people sit down and play two or three hands (not orbits) and get up and leave because he was so rude. I was actually surprised the floor let him stay.

Bad when the dealer does it, x10 worse when a player reaches into the pot to make their own change (x100 when it's before the bet cycle is even completed)
