Ketogenic Way of eating... (2 Viewers)

Really can't beat a keto breakfast.

I've had a strange week since I've been immobile for much of it. But one thing I've noticed on keto is I am just NOT hungry. On Emerald Bay delivery day, I got to about 10pm and noticed all I had had to eat that day was 1 hard boiled egg and 1 chicken sausage. Wasn't even hungry. I understand the importance of keeping up the calorie count. But it's nice to not be hungry!

Just had sharp cheddar scrambled eggs and a couple slices of bacon. Except for the beer part, this isn't so bad.
That’s great, Mel. After a week or so off of sugar, you will lose all cravings for it. You will rarely feel hungry.

I have combined keto with intermittent fasting in the past. I only had coffee and water throughout the day. I would only eat between 4pm and 8pm. It worked great and I was never hungry.

Taco salad, didn't eat the shell.

It’s amazing how a breakfast full of protein can carry you through out the day. Usually eggs and bacon or sausage for breakfast and no carbs will take me all the way to dinner. No lunch needed.
It gets easier as you go Mel, keep it up!

One of my favorite salads is a massaged kale salad with mango bits, with a dressing of olive oil, lemon, and topped with some pumpkin seeds.
I tried this the other day, keto-style (dropping the mango), and it was still *so* delicious. I didn't really miss the mango too much, as the lemon gave enough "kick" to make it delicious. I am not really a fan of kale...until it has been massaged. YUM.

Massaged kale, definitely the way to go.

I don't even know what massaging kale means... But there are many different kinds of kale, some are tougher than others.

I recommend curly kale if you're going to eat it raw. It's softer and easier to chew.

cut up kale into bite sized pieces, put in bowl, put a little olive oil and lemon on it, roll up your sleeves, and get your hands in there. Just squeeze it over and over again for about 2 minutes. Eat. OMG, so good.

I guess I do it the quick way, then. Here's my recipe:

tried it for over a year, at the end i had very little energy so now i try eating low carbs for 2 meals a day and whatever-diner!

More pro tips I'm sure you guys already know.

Pork Rinds = can fry anything. Grind them up and use them as breading. I stuffed chicken breasts with cream cheese, chedder, jalepeno and breaded them after an egg wash. Amazing. Fried shrimp, fish and even amazing crab cakes using pork rinds as filler.

Cauliflower = almost any comfort food side. Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, rice and so on. I even cheat and buy frozen riced cauliflower. Heat it up in a pan with butter, add cream and whatever seasoning, food processor or blendor for delicious mashed potatoes like side.

I will try the Pork Rinds idea.

I *have* tried the cauliflower...my taste buds were neither fooled nor amused. Nope.

I enjoy cauliflower both steamed and raw (in salads or as a side/snack with bleu cheese dressing), but have yet to find a alternative product or recipe for converting it into something else that was worth the trouble.

I've switched this week from lazy keto to tracking with MFP. I'm losing, but not as fast as I'd like.

I can't taste the coconut, but others say they can smell it, with the butter, cream, cheese and seasoning it just tastes amazing. Especially after toasting in a pan.
Plain coconut flour, to me, is slightly sweet and has an extremely mild coconut flavor.

When I cook with it, it takes on the flavor of the seasoning and other ingredients.
