This worked out awesome to btw, I'm glad I have this option now instead of it going in a MFRB

A single barrel of chips currently is on its way to me from an unknown eBay seller. Searched the forum for the member ID given there's an eBay name thread, but zero results. Since they wouldn't ship internationally this was my first time using one of those US-based reshipping services where you get an US postal address to have stuff sent to. All I know so far is that they're in a bubblewrap envelope, not a box. I hope they'll be alright.

I wound up packing in a SFRB and then putting it inside a SFRE. Saved $.50.

Just FYI for those shipping small QTY of 43mm chips. They don't fit in small flat rate boxes in barrels. Too wide. You have to break them down to stacks of 5 or 6 and put them in sideways. If a small flat rate box is packed with a lot of chips, I'd recommend putting the SFRB inside of 2 or 3 padded flat rate envelopes for 5c more.

Yes. Both, chip boxes and shrink wrapped barrels.

What is SFRB

USPS.com has all packing supplies for free. I like to use the padded flat rate bubble mailer inside a flat rate legal size envelope. You can fit two racks inside the buble mailer. Tape it. Put that inside another bubble mailer. Tape it. You can even do it a third time. Last slip it inside the flat rate legal envelope if you want to save an additional fifty cents. Last I go to a completed eBay auction that has already been delivered with positive feedback and print another label. I change the name and address and get my eBay discount. In another thread I just sent a rack of charcoal starburst and some forest green as well and shipped them priority mail from portland to florida 2 day for $4.99. I also wrap each bullet with a layer of bubble wrap sort of like the vacuum seal above for added protection. It will still fit inside the chip holder. It eliminates any movement.View attachment 19495

LFRB = Large Flat Rate Box

LFRBs are not recommended for shipping chips unless they are reinforced as per post 1 of the thread.

Sounds like a great way to end up with a bunch of broken racks. There are usually some casualties even shipped from the manufacturer.

For what it’s worrh, I recently had some very expensive chips shipped to me and I found 2 methods adequate. One deal was shipped PFRE style in MFRB boxes with plenty of padding added inside. All arrived in perfect condition. The other deal was shipped in Paulson boxes taped closed and in the 700/700/600 method in MFRB boxes and padded as mentioned by BGinGA on page 2. Again everything arrived in great shape. I must say, however, the exterior of each box was in bad shape. Doesn’t appear much care was given to the package during its journey to me.

This is exactly why ample padding inside, along with reinforced corners (and/or double-boxing) and a shit-ton of shipping tape used on the entire exterior surface of the box are all so important. The tape is cheap and helps a lot when the box gets abused.

Matsui racks are very thin. They would need to be wrapped in bubble wrap.

The damage was not bad (the shipper volunteered to ship a replacement rack, and I declined), but obvious. Slightly rougher handling by the post office (and my belief is more chips = rougher handling) could have been disastrous.

i think those are bud jones racks. I have a bunch and many are cracked like that but it doesn't affect them much unless the crack is huge. Also nothing that a little thin superglue won't fix.
