Official Four Suits Mold Interest Thread! (1 Viewer)

Hey guys! I've been speaking with the folks over at Sunfly about creating this mold for their Polyclay line, and they're on board! There would be a 28.5mm recess on the 39mm chips, allowing for complete customization of the label instead of having a stock label pressed into the chip. Edge spots would also be able to be completely customized by the user making this a great option for 100% custom chips on a new mold!

I always loved the TFP mold that was used on some of the BCC chip lines; most notably being the Grand Championship of Poker chip. I really like the idea of having this be a stock mold offered by Sunfly as I feel it would fit comfortably into many custom sets because it's just non-specific enough.

Now what I need to find out is if any of you guys would be interested in seeing this mold come to life. With enough interest, Sunfly will produce the mold and keep it as their own. Please let me know if this is something you would like to see happen!

They feel really nice. They have a textured surface that is much closer to the feel of actual clays than the texture you would find on ceramic chips. They stack very nicely as well.

To be clear, the recess is part of the mold, so labels could be made by @Gear if you chose to do so. This, combined with your preferred edge spots allows for a completely custom chip on this new mold.

Hmmm...these two statements seem opposed to me. Neither the Lucid Diamond samples I have nor any of the other Poly Clay samples I have from Sun Fly have a recess. And no recess means no labeling.

In short...

PolyClay = No recess
PolyInno = Recessed/Hybrid

Sooo..please clarify. Are these going to be recessed and take a label, or are these going to be like Lucid Diamonds and have no recess?

The recess will be a part of the mold, so they will take a label. Essentially, the photo in the OP shows the new mold in its entirety.

This 39mm hybrid would be close to a Paulson RHC chip with a grand inlay which is 27mm (1 1/16"). The recess on the RHC chip is slightly bigger so the recess on this hybrid and RHC chip is pretty close.

No recess on these. I inquired about it for a possible roulette set with modified photo art but then decided to go another way.

I haven’t, but these chips could be done as a single color and then you could use clear labels made to look like hot stamps on them.

It is my understanding that Sun-Fly cannot dye-sub full face print on a chip with a recess (distances from print head to chip surface must be uniform). So probably no printing in the recessed area on this new mold - outer ring and rolling edge only.

That is going to be contingent upon how much interest we can get on the mold itself. I will be getting back with Sunfly in a few days to discuss pricing.

@brains613, basically what we're trying to figure out is if there is enough interest to have the mold produced. If we can get that then Sunfly is willing to produce the mold and add it to their existing line of options.

One of the things that I didn't even think about was that, since this will be a completely new mold with a recess, we could have the recess be as large or small as we would all like. I, personally, would like to see the area for the label the same size as a Paulson RHC recess, but I would also love to hear what you guys think!

I wonder if these will be discernible in real life. It's pretty clear what your four suits logo is in your avatar, as it appears on my screen. But as tiny indents on a mold?

Probably similar to the diamonds mold.
