The Redneck Poker Card Database (3 Viewers)

That is interesting information. I've been planning on purchasing a set of these and was also going off of the assumption they fell into the "all modiano except platinum and elements" category. @Dix Is that correct, or do they belong on a different row? Are Texas Poker Cel or PVC?

Only acetate Modiano are Platinum and ones with WSOP logo on the back

My issue is not what Modiano says about them. It's how do they compare to other Modiano cards that I have now. Which is why I'm asking if the database needs to be modified.
Presumably the flexibility and width and all of that has been tested? I have the platinum acetates as well as a deck of the Texas ones. The only way I could honestly tell them apart is the slightly different smell of the PVC. From a flexibility and thickness standpoint you’d have to get scientific measurements to discern which is which (aside from the design on the back). So that being said, the Texas ones are really nice.
I should get out my digital calipers and test out the platinums, the Texas ones, a d the guilds to see what difference I can measure.

I think that's the whole point of the redneck database. And why I asked @Dix the question. Hopefully he will come along and weigh in here eventually.

Since he does not have the Texas Poker line specifically mentioned in the database, we are all just assuming they belong on that row with other Modiano cards. But because that row specifies cards made from cellulose acetate, I think the Texas Poker line needs it's own row. Even if the measurements are very similar.

Dix has been MIA for a while, some (incl me) tried to reach out but no reply yet.
Hope all is well with him, will update if I hear something

Oh wow! I hadn't realized that. Almost 3 months since he has logged in. I hope everything is alright and he's just busy with other interests or work.

So I pulled out my digital calipers today to measure my Platinums and my Texas Pokers. The Platinums measured in at 0.30 mm per card, or 16.46 mm for a 52-card deck. The Texas Pokers were 0.32 mm per card, or 17.21 mm per 52-card deck. I know this doesn’t seem to work out if you multiply out the card thickness by 52. But the point is that the Texas Pokers are indeed thicker than the Platinum Acetates.

I don’t have a way to scientifically test the flexibility, but the Texas Pokers are definitely less flexible than the Platinums from just my tactile testing. And it would make sense if they’re that much thicker.

I also have a deck of Guilds on hand. Gonna test those next.

Texas Poker Modianos are definitely PVC. They're thinner and more flexible that the Platinums, which are cellulose acetate.
This is weird — the ones I just tested are thicker and less flexible than the Platinums, and even thicker and less flexible than the Guilds. Don’t know what to make of that.

That is odd. Everyone I have ever asked has told me that the Texas Poker cards are among the most flexible cards you can buy. It's one reason I have held off on buying any. I prefer a mid-soft card like Davinci. And I would love to get my hands on a set of the Platinum, but they are out of my budget.

So I’m not saying this is a scientific test, but until Dix gets back, this is all I can manage. I taped a chip to both cards and relatively the same place then taped the cards to a desk. The brown on the left is the Texas Poker. The blue on the right is the Platinum Acetate. As you can see, the PA is ever so slightly more flexible. Which in my mind makes sense because it’s every so slightly thinner.

Lest you thought I was done with this carpet bombing run.....

Not all card reviews can be puppys, rainbows & sunshine. Or, as someone famously said back in the 80s, "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"....

Where do I start?....

How about we start with the largest source of my aggravation.... that scourge to the sanity of the world of commerce known as Kardwell International...

I won't rehash the entire sordid story here, suffice to say that I ordered a couple decks back on JULY 18th. & they just arrived... LAST WEEK.

Stuck on Stupid seems to be a phrase tailor-made specifically for outfits like Kardwell. Seriously, if it's customer service you're looking for, you are very likely far better off expecting it from your state's DMV.

If you're curious, go back to Page 8.... https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/the-redneck-poker-card-database.52229/post-1275307

At any rate, after tossing my hat in the ring to try winning a set in a giveaway, I called them again for what has to be the sixth or seventh time & they finally actually delivered. Well, sort of..... not the ENTIRE order mind you, but at least the cards. I'm going to ignore the remainder of that order. Just cut my losses, save my sanity, & call it a win.

At this point I should at least be able to confirm that these are indeed great cards though.... right? I mean, just look at what everyone here says about 'em when they are mentioned.

If Gemaco Superflex impress you as great cards, well then, bless your heart. (If you don't know what that means, ask a redneck from the south) :D

Let's start with the name.... Superflex....

The name SuperFLEX would imply flex-ABILITY, would it not? Meaning flex-ABLE. (That's flexibility & flexible for you spell-check fanatics)

While I normally hesitate to accuse anyone of telling porkies (well, not really), or deliberate false advertising (again, not really, I actually try not to miss a good opportunity at throwing the BS flag when warranted)

A flex score of 15.5 BARELY gets these things out of pure "medium" territory. How "awesomely average"!!! :ROFLMAO:

H*ll, at a flex rating of 19, Monarchs are more flexible than Superflex. Go figure.

But, the disappointment doesn't stop there. Monarchs have a decent matte finish front & back, while the Superflex have that finish on the backs only. The faces are smooth as the freshly Zambonied surface of Boston Garden. & these are supposed to be Gemaco's "Casino Quality" decks.

Meh.... the consumer oriented Monarch are far better quality if yer askin' me, & you don't have to deal with Kardwell to get 'em, which is a win-win in my book.

As always, specs in the database - https://www.pokerchipforum.com/resources/the-redneck-poker-card-database-2-0.76/
Just seeing this thread after a couple months. Lots of great content. I own a lot of these cards as many know and agree that Superflex are extremely overrated. I bought them through Kardwell as well based on many recommendations here but was severely underwhelmed. Very stiff and they even took a slight bow. I bought the Superflex branded ones and then the Superflex made for Kardwell.
In Atlantic City, Harrah’s uses superflex for tournaments (Kem for cash). After seeing the conditions of the cards I also question the durability. What you first notice is how much of the ink seems to chip off. It’s very odd and I never seen a card do that before

Have to agree with this. I'm spoiled by having the likes of Cartamundi (the Belgian ones), desjgn, Fournier, and King Australia on my card shelf, but in comparison, Gemaco cards, even the Superflexes, are not even my fourth or fifth choices for my games.

I rotate between desjgn, Dal Negro/NTP, Fournier, Angel, King, Piatnik, and Cartamundi Belgium at my place. Only will break out the Kem's when the Rounders chips are in play.

If ink wearing of is your concern, nothing beats Kem. If you want cheaper option try Polish Trefl, they are "Armour option". Downside is they stiff, a bit like Faded Spade and only made with full bleed backs.
You can read review by Dix on Trefl in the thread.

For Chesterfield Club recommend Galaxy by KEM... If you find any.

I have many set ups of Kem cards and they’re my favorite by far. Been using them for over 20 years. I did try Faded Spade and they are the only card I’ve considered completely unplayable of the around 30 setups from most of the major manufacturers I have. We played with them long enough to pass a deal around the table a couple times and everyone universally hated them

Neder Poker
It's no big secret that in my book "softer = better". So, when @surfik sent me a deck of Tobago Casino cards on Cartamundi's "Casino Branded" stock, I immediately went on a quest to find where I could get my hands on something done on the same card stock in a different color, so I could make sets.

Three swings & three misses is called a strikeout. So leave it to that guy in the clean-up slot of the lineup, @Thomacetti to step up to the plate & knock it out of the park while I watch from the bench. :ROFLMAO:

These are a dead match to the Tobago Casino cards right down to the pip font used. https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/the-redneck-poker-card-database.52229/post-1154573

As always specs up in the database: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/resources/the-redneck-poker-card-database-2-0.76/

& now I need to get more Tobagos off Surfik. :D
So, I was recently handling my Tobago casino cards, they are great, and want a matching deck with a different color. We need to get some of these Neder Poker cards into the US!

He has been AWOL for several months. Let's hope he shows up soon and can review your cards!
Yes, this is worrisome. I hope it's just that real life got super busy, and not something more serious.

Does anyone here know him personally outside of PCF?

I tried reaching out every way possible...no reply.

Like already posted...hope he is well
