Seller missing in action (3 Viewers)

I have a different definition of friend. I don't consider most on here my friend. Same with most of the people I play with. They're acquaintances. If I get to know them a little more, they might be considered a friend.

As such, if someone was a friend and they pulled this deadbeat BS, they probably wouldn't be a friend for long.

Only exception I can think of: Around 30 years ago, I had a friend that became a roommate. I learned the hard way that he was not to be trusted with money. He was in charge of the utilities. Myself and 2 other roommates were giving him money for the bills. Sure enough, the power got shut off. Find out from another friend that something similar happened to him regarding a bday present that 5+ people were pitching in on.

So he remained a friend, but not one I'd loan money to, or trust with money at all.

Side note: When I moved out, he still owed me money. So I took his mini refrigerator and some other things of his that still didn't equal the amount he owed.
Friend as in the tool to dispute. Not the pcf member in question.

Dude. I was just talking about PayPal...making light of the situation. Wrong timing on my part, sorry about that

Without knowing anything specific to this seller, in general there’s a limit to how much sympathy I feel for “family emergency” and “going through some stuff” excuses when they (a) are used repeatedly over very long periods of time, and (b) there is limited or no communication between long delays.

We all have been through stuff. Since becoming a PCF member, I have had multiple members of my family and my partner’s family become ill and get hospitalized, some for long and stressful periods. Several of them died, including my father and my partner’s father.

And then there are all the other smaller personal dramas and setbacks one experiences in life, no matter how well one plans.

Not to sound harsh, but even when feeling overwhelmed, it does not take more than a few seconds to send a quick message telling someone that you haven’t forgotten them, and that you’re going to get to their order/request as soon as possible. Ideally giving them a timeframe.

It also really doesn’t take that long to box up most PCF shipments and stop at a USPS/UPS/FedEx place while going about other necessary errands. People sometimes act like this is some massive, all-day, nearly impossible task, when it’s really pretty easy stuff.

If anything, when I’ve been beset by some difficult long-term challenge or problem, it can sometimes actually be a relief and a positive distraction to take care of some other duller, more manageable task — like boxing up and shipping a small package. It’s something you can control and execute successfully in a short amount of time, when everything else around you feels like an endless, losing struggle.

Anyway, blowing off such obligations just makes the family emergency that much more miserable, knowing that other stuff is looming over your head and making strangers mad.

Another option: Don’t list sales in the midst of ongoing massive personal emergencies. (Sounds like in this case, the start of the problem predates the sale. But again, I am speaking more in general than about this seller’s specific case, which for all I know may involve truly some insurmountable tragedy.)

One last bump, before I move on from this $500 bad beat
Anyone who has contact details of this person, kindly ping or email, Thank you
I’m sorry this happened to you. I was also shorted a barrel. I hate to see it happen to new members, and all I’ll say is that it’s unusual to have established members go awol like that.

Hey @funaffair, That sucks this happened to you.
I got some chips from DuffCal in mid Dec and I received the chips soon after payment. We were corresponding till Jan 21th. I know they had fractured their leg in late Dec and couldn't drive.

EDIT - (That transaction was done. I started a new thread about something else in early) March but never heard back.

I can't say what to do, sounds like others have had good suggestions. I just wanted to say what my experience was, and maybe don't lose hope. Something might have happened to them. Still that really sucks!

Something isn't right for sure. But in my opinion, if you can post on X.com you likely could be posting here too. I had the same experience as the guy above this post. Although, I requested a payment of the amount I sent him that he didn't fullfill and he sent it. I haven't hear from him or anything else. I do live within 5 hrs of Chicago though. I am hopeful for everyone this get handled and quickly. Karma isn't fun.
