Plastic Cards (1 Viewer)

Guild feel very similar to Fournier and Modiano to me. They are stiffer and snappier AKA plastic feeling like most PVC cards.
That's odd. Guilds are advertised as acetate. I don't find them stiff or snappy whatsoever, relatively speaking.

So I never saw that and just looked up their kickstart. They do say that!

Unless there is some new type of acetate they feel NOTHING like acetate and EXACTLY like PVC. Acetate cards like Kem and Cartamundi casino are very distinct in feel

Edit...just pulled them out with some DaVincis, Fournier, and Prestige. They absolutely do not feel like acetate cards. I have a hard time accepting them at their word. I may contact them to find out.

I was surprised to see how many people on here are DaVinci fans. To me, they are just a slight notch above Copag. It's just like anything else, I guess. I love KEMs and a lot of people on here hate them.

I'd sooner buy either of them than I would Kems. Kems are over-inflated in terms of pricing for what you get these days. So many better options out there.

Tough too argue with that - KEMs might feel the best, but they cost twice as much as Davincis and three times as much as bicycle prestige - I can’t justify it.

To say nothing about Desjgn, Four52, and Gemaco. My issue is not with the reformulation, necessarily, but with the continued premium they are charging based solely on name-recognition. USPC has ruined the brand for those who truly appreciate well made cards. For the rubes who just want "those casino cards", fine. But someone who knows what they're dealing with will buy one set-up, and never another.

Unless they find this place and pay attention

You guys need to slow down though. Because reasonably priced fourniers are few and far between. I just found the old eBay transaction where I bought my setup - it cost $19.99. Great deal. But unless you can find him a deal like that, you're telling him to pay $15 per deck, which is more than KEMs cost.

Better than KEMs, imo. Modiano now relegated to the trash, KEMs are re-gifted. Fournier, Piatnik, Dejign, Prestige, and Superflex only for me. I have Congress and Guild cards that will never see play in my lifetime.

Well, I would never scrap a perfectly usable set-up of cards (or 12) but, as stated, he should buy the Fourniers. Best card for the money, especially if you factor in my offer to mail him a set up of Modiano PAs

Also, while he did not say that price was no object, it did not seem to be a barrier to getting the right product for his game. Based on all factors, that would be Fourniers.

BUY THE FOURNIERS. Any issue of price will be MORE than cancelled out by quality, and longevity. what no one here has yet stated is that the DaVinci line of cards is the entry level for Modiano. think Chevy as opposed to Cadillac. With Fournier, you are getting Lexus at Toyota pricing.

Just buy them and enjoy.

^^^ This. Simply this.

I'm a fan of the beige centres as well, and my order of preference has been Fournier, Desjgn, and Modiano. I haven't tried Dal Negro and NTP cards, so I don't know what they are like. For my own game, I currently rotate between the Fournier and Desjgn poker size jumbo cards, and I have no complaints from our players for either of those. But my personal preference is Fournier.

@Bearbocmc, I don't recall you mentioning what type of cards you were looking for (bridge size, poker size, regular index, jumbo index), so that may affect what is available.

Poker size / jumbo index
Fournier (see earlier posts...tend to be pricey...$26 per setup is typical)
Desjgn (Classic Victorian line in https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/ordering-links.16572/ ... $24 per setup shipped)
Modiano
Dal Negro
NTP
Guild
Copag (such as their Texas Hold'em red/black for $19.50 at eBay)

Based on bang for the buck, I'd recommend Fournier or Desjgn out of the above.Just my opinion, but I'm not a Copag fan.

Bridge size / jumbo index

Fournier (eBay)
Desjgn (when reprints are available)
Copag (eBay) for $23.

I use poker size, so I can't provide any feedback on the above.

Which KEM have the yellow centering?

I think he was more referencing his attitude towards the various products, rather than a specific recommend for your purchase.

Long story short . . . it's taken four pages of back and forth on this, as is normal . . . but I think the consensus is pretty clear that, in the opinion of the card junkies on this site, your best option is some form of Fournier that has the requisite centre colouring.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to purchase Bridge sized cover/cut cards?
Glad @links_slayer got you covered. You know I would have sent you some. I need to get some poker sized but have not yet. I have plenty of bridge size but for some reason I am missing my poker size cut cards. If anyone has a few to spare let me know how much!

I bought all my Fournier/Congress for $13-$15 a setup or less on eBay. The same seller denin123 usually lists them a couple of time a year. you just have to look for them and buy in batches of 5-6 setups. Best cards for the buck to me.

I'm the opposite. I have plenty of poker sized, but the only bridge-sized ones I have are the ones that came with setups - davinci and desjgn are it, I think. But I have the advantage, because I'm pretty sure with a poker sized cut card and an exacto knife, I can probably find my way to a bridge sized cut card.

Actually have only Fournier, Piatniks, Desjgn in my closet. Oh I do have one brand new setup of Superflex in there as well

Yes Piatniks are great as well but only seem to come in Blue. ;)

I do have a couple of Red/Blue setups, but wish we could find some more Red decks. :D
Bad part is I am down to my last red/blue set up. Trying to find more but I keep getting the answer that they were discontinued. I still have at least 20 decks of the blue backs and wish I could find some reds! My last email to my Piatnik rep was to tell Austria to go find the reds that are probably sitting on a shelf somewhere in the warehouse.

If you need a few bridge size cut cards I can send you a few
