I'm Positive Now OH!!! CRAP!! My Wife just got Positive Covid Test Results (5 Viewers)

Well I saw your “scamdemic” post so I probably shouldn’t even reply. But yes, my wife spent 24 days in ICU, 18 of those on a ventilator and damn near died.
The night I took her to the ER her sO2% went from 92 to 73 in an hour. We had a monitor at home she brought from her clinic after she got diagnosed. She was not high risk at all.

We’ve talked a lot to the infectious disease docs about her case and the virus in general. It’s very real and very deadly to a lot of people. Most people do have it mild but those it hits hard it hits like a freight train.
interesting, this is the description of the often reported severe respiratory crash associated with this virus. I have been watching for this type of thing and have not seen this often enough in an otherwise uncompromised patient to say there was a new disease here. Perhaps very lucky from the sounds of it. I am glad you are healthy and things went well for your wife in the end, ICU experiences are terrible. As for the scamdemic comment there are some bigger issues going on but as to there being a virus I accept it may be out there leaving the political issues there.

Well if you have seen this in your practice that is interesting. So far there are tons of reports in Ontario but as of yet I can't say I have seen anything new...visits are way down to the ER and other than the routine health emergencies traumas, drunk and disorderly etc is also all way down. Mental health suicide depression is up a lot. So far though respiratory cases are much lighter than a few years ago here when there was a large influenza outbreak.

All the best, Believe me I sat through meetings where in one community expected mortality was predicted as possible 20-30% so far Zero and I will gladly see it stay that way. Just would like to see some more actual physical presentation findings.
yes, it would be something if they started reporting the survivability rate with this recent "surge"
God bless the propaganda wing fake news media and their panic porn. /factsanddatarant

Hoping your wife recovers quickly and the rest of your family gets through this safe and well.

Best wishes to your wife, you, and your family. Be well.

Same goes for everyone else. Best wishes to all of you and your families to be well in every way that it can be said.

The Boys and I get our test this afternoon. Hope all is negative.

Since I have been sleeping with and around my wife all the time since before she was Pos.

Do I now need to keep my distance and sleep in another room??

Yes! It helped keep me negative. You may already have it but just in case quarantine. I’d take my wife food or whatever she needed and leave it at the bedroom door for and knock and let her come get it.
Better safe than sorry.

I would on the off chance you haven't contracted it yet. Always better to do things on the safer side

As soon as I showed symptoms (before testing) I quarantined myself in my bonus room. When I tested positive, my wife also tested the same day and she was negative. Ordered me a new air mattress and had 2 weeks of room service thanks to the wife and kids. Luckily they never tested positive or showed any symptoms otherwise it would have made for an interesting two plus weeks.

Yes, it's a PITA but quarantine/isolation to prevent spread among negative testers in household. Recommendation is have dedicated room and bathroom for your wife. Masking, hand sanitizing, and cleaning for all things handled. For 2 weeks.

... but as to there being a virus I accept it may be out there ...
Am I reading this wrong? You accept that it MAY be out there?

I understand that there are plenty of people that think that the virus is not as serious as being reported, or may think that it is mildly serious but we should not put many restrictions on people. If you want to argue that, fine. You said that you accept that it MAY be out there. What do you mean by that?

And back to the important point, Russ, I hope your wife has a very mild case as many do, and pray that your whole family will be fine. Take care of each other!

@RussB42 I hope and pray for your wife to have a full and expedient recovery, and for you to remain healthy and strong. This is a real challenge you are facing. I hope you can get through it without tragedy.

@Big Jilm and @Ben8257 I am so very sorry to hear about your loved ones lost to COVID. I know other members of the PCF community who share in that loss.

@JMC9389 thank you for your brave, courageous, life-saving work. And a heartfelt thank you to all the ICU/NICU nurses out there. You are our guardian angels. I will forever be indebted to you.

Just got my Positive Test Results. So far Just Very Tired and not really feeling 100%.

My Dr wants to give me an IV Infusion at the Hospital, do to all my underlining Conditions,

My older son says I should take it. Still deciding,

Now what to do with our Boys 13 & 14.

Get healthy RussB42 and if the doctor thinks it will help probably lean for getting the IV. Keep isolated and don't be in contact with the boys much. Hopefully they will be good to go.

Now's not really the time to second-guess your doctor. Just sayin'.

I'm of the opinion you should get the infusion now while you're in the early stages if the doctor recommends it. Could save you a lot of trouble down the road. If the boys haven't caught it I'd try to keep my distance as much as possible. Can they be trusted to be left alone while you get the treatment?

Russ, my 71 year old uncle passed away on Sunday night due to complications after his COVID infection. He was sick, didn't want to go to the hospital for days, eventually when his wife called an ambulance to force him he collapsed in front of the paramedics. He was on a ventilator for his whole hospital stay and was showing signs of improving but didn't make it.

Don't delay treatment, please.

Are the kids responsible? Depending on their maturity level they should be able to handle it. A lot of uber eats and door dash orders. If you need help, I'd love to sponsor a meal for you guys.

+1 if it helps take one thing off your plate to not have to worry about. Wishing you both the best recovery, Russ
