Does anyone know where to source these? They are what used to be called a "shoe" and were used as a bottom card for many years before people started just using blackjack cut cards.

They are very thick probabaly 1/16" ( or maybe the thickness of 4-5 cards) and usually yellow on one side and black on the other. They are impossible to accidentally shuffle into the rest of the deck.

My friend orders these from a poker supply place maybe 12+ years ago and I can't seem to find them.

I had some made by @PokerChipsDesign . Best cut cards ever. Too thick to get shuffled in a deck, not so thick that it's a menace.

However, I've never heard them called a shoe. A shoe (as far as I've ever heard) holds many decks of cards, allowing you to peel them off one at a time.

Yeah it's a weird name but that is definitely what they were called. Casinos used to always use them as there were no bridge sized "cut" cards back then and poker rooms have always almost exclusively used bridge sized cards. Sometimes they were just called a bottom card. There is also a blackjack "dealer shoe" of course.

My only issue with them was that they were to stiff and brittle. If you did somehow not notice they were in the deck and shuffled you could break them. This happen to a few of mine due to drunk players. I only have two of them now.

The website looks a little suspect. Is this place legit? I would love to get custom "shoes" ;)or cut cards or what ever you want to call them.

If you want custom cut cards, I strongly recommend PokerChipsDesign. His prices were lower, his customer service is good, and he is a PCF vendor.

Pics while at work are limited, but you can see one in this shot with my travel chips...

I'll definitely look into a fe custom ones now.

That said, after google searching several different ways this is the closest thing I found. I'm not sure if their website if messed up but shipping is coming up $17 for a few $2.50 cards. I didn't order but have ordered from here I the past. I don't remember crazy Kardwell type shipping costs.

They look all black though....and my playing service is black....so that is less than ideal.
