As much as I wanted to fight it, I think I should move away from the grey text (as folks wiser than me had already suggested). Here's today's draft. In the interest of getting more sleep, hopefully not too many more tweaks are needed.
Those look sweet, I'd like a reverse of that red/black make up. Looking for a 50,000 denomination with those colorsI'm not much of a designer, but I really liked the look of the Stardust Mansion chips. With that color scheme in the back of my mind, I downloaded inkscape and started playing around.
This is what I ended up with. The building is the tower at Hoboken Terminal in the great state of New Jersey.
I was thinking of maybe acquiring a small quantity of THC solids (white; red; green; black) as cheaply as possible to build a small cash set for me and my son. Even well worn chips would make my son's day with labels with his name of it.
Do you think what I've done will translate well to labels? Ideas for improvement? (As as aside, I'm not sure I would've believed you if you told me when I signed up for PCF, that one day I'd be up until almost midnight working on designing labels. Thank you?)

Or remove the dollar sign altogether (from the denom-only side)For the denom-only side, make sure you center the number alone. Then add your small dollar sign to the left as a separate element.
Otherwise, I think your text sizing is getting better/more readable.

Starting to narrow down color choices. I think I prefer the light blue for the $1. I
And V1 all the way for set choices.
I prefer a dollar sign for cash chips
I hear you. There is something off about the $100 chip when it has the dollar sign. I need to think if there's another way of organizing.
why not write "DOLLARS" underneath the number?
I liked the suits you had before. What about doing a single suit watermark on each denom on side B

I was wondering how that would look myself. Would you do that for all denominations? Or, just the $100.
If you wanted a little more colour in your inlay, your "MONROE ST." etc. could be something other than white, as long as there's high contrast between it and the black background.
Yes@Justin Olson , is the following sort of what you were thinking for a watermark?

Then wait 2 or 3 days without touching and re-look
It’s been fun watching this evolve. The putting away for a few days will be the issue--I think Inkscape is my new addiction! But you're right, the distance will be helpful in seeing things to tweak. Really appreciate everyone's feedback.
I love the evolution of this design!
