Tonight's haul

San Francisco, Yosemite and back to Vegas for 3 nights
Sounds great. My girlfriend lived in San Francisco for 5 years. I’ll ask her if there’s some hidden gems for you to see. If you see a place called Tennessee Grill send me a picture as that’s where she used to work.

Excellent haul. I’m leaving for Vegas next week and, given your success, will be trying to harvest some similar chips. Do you have any specific advice for how to get the best condition chips, particularly the Paris 1s? Did you go to the cage, ask for a barrel at a time, and offer a tip?

Paris you just need to ask 1-2 times a day for mint chips. I offer a small bribe and usually get 5-10 at a time. Also go to the wheel game and buyin for $40 of 1s and sort through for condition. Once I had got the best ones i made some bullshit story that I didn't like my barrel and asked for a new one because mine had bad juju lol it worked.

Roulette or craps tables are usually good for a barrel If you ask for them using a $20. Other than that using $5 chips for change at quiet tables is an easy way without getting asked too many questions.

So the Vegas portion of my trip has ended and I left at 7:40 this morning to go pick up my beautiful wife from LA. I loved Vegas, but I'm definitely happy that I've got her here now.

Annoyingly her flight was delayed at the last minute by 2 hours, so I got to LAX at 12 and didn't pick her up until 2:15. We then drove to Cumbria, with a brief stop at Santa Barbara and In n Out, and I arrived at 8pm. 485 miles in a day was probably not my best plan ever, I'm pretty ruined now.

I've also been taking stock of my inventory and I might have a few too many racks to fit in the suitcases. 12 of these need to come home with me  :ROFLMAO: .

I've also got about 1200 new chips waiting at home, which arrived whilst Ive been away, so Ill be having some fun when I get back

I am so glad your vacation is working out for you. Now party it up with the wife.

If there are any racks you plan on selling, perhaps list them now and ship from the US! I doubt live chips would take longer than 10 minutes to sell in the classifieds these days. Those flat rate boxes we use out here are free at any US post office and super convenient.

That's why im selling the mgms, as I won't need them. Tempted to auction off the Bally's lol.

I've got plans for almost all the rest

I would guess you are familiar with the phrase "busman's holiday" - this is a chipster's holiday!

Just got to SF, seems pretty cool so far. Finally had an epic coffee at Saint franks, thanks to @kmccormick100

Smashed a Parm sandwich at split, which was great too.

We just saw some of these go past, so I think I'm gonna have to do it in the morning.

Bay area peeps, what do you reckon? Tourist trap or awesome?

Also, can anyone recommend anywhere good to eat that's not all fried food. The wife wants to know.

@RocAFella1

@RainmanTrail

Alcatraz night tour later on. Can't wait

I’ve never done the GoCar myself (nor have I been to Alcatraz) but it seems like a fun way to tour around on your own.

What kind of food?

Honestly I’d be scared to drive those around SF, they seem so low and slow in traffic...and I’ve cycled around the entire city on multiple occasions hahaha. Could be fun though.

Never been to Alcatraz lol, don't many locals go?

Not overly fussed, just anything that's clean style eating. Can't deal with deep fried fried stuff.

Locals go when family/friends are visiting lol.

Where are you staying? There’s gotta be a couple hundred organic/vegan/gluten free options in SOMA. Decent Italian fare in North Beach. Chinese food in Chinatown. Mexican food in the Mission. So on and so forth lol.

A few restaurants in SF worth a go:

Slanted Door at Ferry Building
State Bird Provisions
NoPa

Saturday morning, get your asses down to the Ferry Plaza farmers market. In addition to excellent coffee and free samples of amazing fruits and veg, seek out the food stall way out in the back near the dock for a place called Primavera, and order the chilequiles with eggs and avocado for brekkie. It’s amazeballs. (You’re welcome.)

Cheaper options:
La Taqueria
Taqueria El Farolito for late night
Chinatown for dim sum / buns
Marufuku for ramen

Nicer options:
Zuni Cafe for one of the best roast chickens
Rich Table
Kokkari
Roka Akor
House of Prime Rib

Fun all you can eat options:
Fogo de Chao - Brazilian
Espetus Churrascaria - Brazilian
Korean BBQ - there are a few
Shabu shabu - there are a few

Add Coqueta on the embarcadero for some killer Tapas and Spanish food and Cockscomb if you’re looking for some perfectly executed meat. Both on the pricier side, but spectacular.

Saha is a Mediterranean small plate / tapas restaurant, and definitely one of the top 5 best meals I've ever had in my life. I recommend that you ask for Mohamed (the chef/owner) and tell him you want to eat whatever he wants to make. Everything is so good, but definitely on the pricier side. They also have a prix fixe menu option that runs about $50/head.

Edit: Lots of vegan/gf options

Thanks for the recommendations guys

Tempted for the Brazilian place

Can definitely recommend Fogo De Chao if you want your fill of delicious meats. It's one of those Brazillian steakhouse places that cut you meat fresh off the skewers and don't stop coming by until you turn your little coaster over from green (feed me!) to red (I'm going to burst).
