Changing auction structure (10 Viewers)

Because everyone wants to wait 3 months before the auction ends, hell I know at least one asshole that would min bid just to see the world burn it go another day

I made us a Gant Chart to show what it would look like, but I can only fit 1/3 of it on the ScreenShot

This would be my game.....

Wow what poop show... there is another side to this hobby... that is networking amongst piers to work towards common goals where everyone succeeds and finds what they need. Less than 2 months as a form member and calling names about another member is NOT how you find help on the networking side of things. You lost an auction for mass produced cards molds ceramics and resort to calling someone a jerk off? I hope cards molds are your only step in this hobby. Try waiting 6 months for a single chip to pop up, up your bid four times in the next week in anticipation just to get out bid in .032 seconds by a sniping bot that was set to place a crazy high bid at the last possible second. Once that has happened say 200 times to you, then come back and let us know how you really feel. Lol

Don't even bother with a rebuttal @Kentucky it ain't worth it brother, hopefully this guy is decent enough to send you an apology... in the mean time congratulations on your new set of chips! Hope to see some pictures of them.in play sometime!

Oh wow, I didn't realize these were for that auction of Aria's 39mm! One of the best small-GB-CM chip sets! Just played with them over the weekend with the kids. I loved seeing all of them on the table. Can't wait for some 43mm oversized $20s and $100s to arrive!

@Kentucky - you'll love em. As a new member, we'd love to hear your feedback on them.

I never have this problem in auctions. I bid once, at the very maximum I would want to bid. I don't have to wait to see if I'm sniped, because I wasn't going to bid any higher.

Sometimes I might wind up paying more than I might have had to pay, but I never pay more than I was willing.

But I never get sniped, and never worry about the auction rules. If someone outbids me, good on them, and good for the seller. If I win, good on me, good on the seller.

If you got outbid and you couldn't babysit the 5 minute rule, you should have just bid your maximum. The only thing that beat you was your own greed.

I thought you were a poker player? Your auction strategy seems a bit -EV:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Hopefully @IaHawk won’t mind me revealing this snip of our PM…

So idk the exact rules on posting an auction but i had a bid holding for 3 full days and then some jerk off out bids me with a minimum bid when there was basically no time left for me to then re bid and i lost…. I think an auction should end 12 or 24 hours after the last bid so this doesnt happen.

You'll usually want to be around near the auction end time if you don't think you bid your max.
They normally don't run too long after the end time.

Other solutions:
post a wanted ad for the chips you are looking for (and possibly a price you will pay).
get in on a cards mold group buy
start a group buy yourself

Dutch auctions. Set a super high starting price. It lowers 5% every hour until a buyer claims it.
You think they'll care about the bumps (since you can only do it once per day besides the last day of an auction)?

Let's test it! I haven't sold anything in a while. I'll find something special, like a Lakeshore Inn sample set. List it for $1000. Lower it $50 every hour until sold.

 :wtf:

Also add, don’t be cheap and just bid your maximum price the first time.

Sorry about you getting outbid @xdukeluvax. It’s one of those quirks when someone comes in and so called “snipes” you, as we commonly refer to it. Tough to avoid those sometimes.
Yes, it definitely sucks when that happens. But I think in this situation it's more of a learning experience. Now that @xdukeluvax has been through one auction, they will know what to expect for the next one. Namely that you should set an alarm for 5 minutes before the auction ends to make sure that nobody tries to bid at the end. If they do, then the auction simply gets extended and you have the chance to bid again yourself.
