Upcoming molds......... (22 Viewers)

My wager is that large crowns aren't in yet.

I got a shipment with 11 chip boxes from CPC a few months ago in a large flat rate box from USPS, and they were packed snug and I don't believe another chip box would have fit. I wager that @TomC727 is getting two MFRB's of B molds if his order was about 1000 chips. He's probably getting two boxes worth of extras.
According to the tracking, yes, it is 2 medium flat rate boxes.

Damn. I got my hopes up it was both molds.

They are here. My B-Diamond set.

Just unpacked them. This weekend I want to try to clean the clay dust off and oil them up. They turned out perfect.

Thank you CPC and @timinater

Knowing the background story on these and the thought that went into designing them, these are my personal early contender for custom set of the year. The color matched inlays bring these to another level.

Are the inlays on these textured? Just curious.

Wow. That really means a lot.

The inlays have a light texture to them.

Since you the know the background, these have even more of a meaning behind them now.

My dad passed away about 2 months ago and because of COVID, was never able to see my finished basement. He would be very proud of all of this, including the poker chips. He was never a baseball fan, but long story short, his profession (a family business passed down generations) invented that very exploding scoreboard depicted in the green chip for the Chicago White Sox.

For any baseball historians in this group, if you read the book Veeck, As In Wreck, written by Bill Veeck (former owner of the Chicago White Sox), there is a chapter that outlines the story of the Exploding Scoreboard.

My condolences on the loss of your father :(

What a wonderful tribute to him and your family and your favorite team. The chips and designs are only part of the story for a chip set to me. You took an ambitious project on and knocked it out of the park in all facets. Well done to all involved!

I went with a blue $1 chip and a few players have said they feel like they have a hard time differentiating between the $1 and $25 green chip. Outside of that I regret going with the tri moon edge spot on this chip as well. Just didn’t turn out the way I wanted it too. The $5, $25, and $100 turned out flawless though.
Just coming here from your post in the mail pr0n thread. I know everyone has different tastes, but in my opinion the blue $1 is the star of your set. If I were starting an FDL set, I'd be happy to take those off your hands. In my opinion, the blue chip / green chip problem is the $25. I'm sorry, but that particular CPC green is just bland and boring. Plus I assume you have a lot less $25s than $1s. I'd be more inclined to change that chip instead and give it a different color with more pop.

I appreciate the feedback. I actually like the $25 so its kind of a dilemma. I have the exact same amount of $1's and $25 so thats not really a problem when it comes to switching them out. The $1 is the less expensive of the two as well so that leads me to be more inclined to redo that one but we'll see. Still trying to put together some ideas before i make a final decision. If it wasn't for the Dayglo Saturn edgespot color I'd actually like the $1 quite a bit. I was very disappointed in that color specifically. Oddly enough ive been a defender of that color in the past as I have a friend who has a chip with Saturn on it and his looks substantially different.

Anyone else get chips in? Don't hold back on us!

I just submitted and paid for my H mold order!!! Estimated 6 months…. Start counting the days
Ouch... I put in an H-mold order last December and Dave indicated then that the order list was "growing bigger every day"
Could be a long wait

This was from the end of March:
Molds - right now the FDL and DIECARD are in. Diecard is rarely mentioned as it's not often ordered but there were a couple of very old orders that had to be done.
FDL should be done in a couple of weeks and that will be followed by the Crowns (has to be Small followed by Large as the outstanding orders on the small go back much further. Yes the crowns will be a long run, 30 odd orders for 40,000 chips is an absolute minimum of 3 months, probably more like 4 by the time the large are complete.
DIECARD will be a few weeks later changing to NO MOLD for a single medium size order (no choice, it's been waiting too long) followed by BDIAMOND.

As that all takes us out a fair few months nothing else is fixed yet.
Small crown has been in since May with at least a couple of large orders from chipping friends that I know about still in the queue, probably are a few more.

B-mold didn't go in until June as far as I understand. I had mentioned to David a few days ago that I was already planning an add on to my B mold order, and he has mentioned that my initial order from October was still a few weeks away.

Take that all as you will...

When I contacted David about my scrowns back in June he said there were a bunch of orders ahead of mine and that he couldn't give me an estimate because it would be inaccurate.

I placed my order back in December when he thought they might run in April, so I figured maybe June they would ship. Looks like he was pretty close since they started running in May. It should be any week now for me... I can taste them...

My add on made it.

I'm very pleased.

Thanks David!
I keep looking at this set and I don’t know why, but is it possible for a chip set to have a season? LOL these chips just scream Fall to me, they should come out about the time the leaves start turning, football starts, and the first snow falls in the mountains.

I can't explain it, the set is this soft color that feels late afternoon warm sun with a little bit of coldness as soon as the son goes down in my mind. :wtf:

Is it just me, or do others find some molds to be….distracting, to the point that it takes away from other aspects of the chip like spot colors and inlay design?

For me, the Circle-Square mold is *so* incredibly distracting, I think it is a net-negative on a chip with interesting spots. I mean, I have seen some great sets using this mold, but I think I would like them better on another mold, that isn’t so prominent.

Am I the only one who feels this way about some of the mold choices?

I used to feel the exact same about CSQ. After getting some in hand I changed my mind though. Pics and closeups seem to make it stand out much more and be busier than they actually appear on the felt.

Personally, I find that either the mold is the feature or it should be regular and unobtrusive. For me, E&C is a feature mold but diasq, scrown, csq are unobtrusive. I dislike A, B, hhr, jockey, diecard etc because they are feature molds where I don't like the features. The only mold that I think is too busy and not really a feature mold is the hourglass and is probably my least favourite.

My favourite molds are scrown and diasq which are sadly also the most expensive!

IMO it really all depends on all factors combined. Mold, spot pattern and colors, and the inlay. CSQ certainly is very busy so you need a subtle inlay artwork and good spots/colors to balance it. But if you have that, then the mold can work very well. Other molds can work with a bigger variety of artwork in the first place.

B Diamond, Hourglass and Large Crown feel equally distracting as CSQ to me.

I put my Rounders CSQ mold into play out last two tourneys, to be honest I barely. Priced the mold during the actually tourney. I’m sure up close pics draw more attention to the mold.

I also just submitted my custom order for H mold because it’s a bit more “basic” of the molds. I put them all out in front of my wife and told her to pick, she actually chose H because she thought it was the cleanest. And yes, she’s a poker player and helped with my colors and spot patterns.

Mind sharing your design? I love H mold

H Mold may look clean but it has some handling issues. The specific texture sometimes makes chips interlock when you try to slide singles off a stack. For practicality it's not the best mold CPC has. But it does look very subtle and classy, so it is compatible with a wide variety of artwork styles.

Disclaimer: Own a large set of H Mold chips myself.
