Upcoming molds......... (18 Viewers)

When David reached out to touch base that the A-Molds arrived safe and sound I asked when he said it was too early to tell where either my scrown or bdiamond orders are in queue

Has anyone ever gone the route of doing a partial order? Like I want to order a set for craps but realistically we are talking like 2,000 chips so the price tag there is really insane. I’m considering ordering a 600 chip set that would be part of the larger 2k chip set and that I could use for poker and what not. If I really do like it then I can pull the trigger next time around on the remaining 1400. If not, I’m not out as much chipping money.

From my understanding you will want to order all of a particular denomination for colour consistency....so if ordering a poker set you could order the tourney or cash portion of your chips and order the latter denominations in your second order with perhaps a secondary rack of $25 or $100/both as appropriate. I went the pay once cry once method. ordered all 2050 chips in one go. the set i ordered will work for craps etc.....my set is designed to allow $25+ to be played as a multi table tourney set while a .25/.50 or 1/2 game could be played on a single cash table.
.25-163
1-203
5-403
10-203 (yes $10 chips)
Break tourney/higher stake portion
25-323
100-323
500-163
1000-143
5000-43
Bounty-43

3 spares of each denom, this is intended to be the primary set with a complementing cards molds secondary set that has $20 chips.

No reason you couldn’t. Colors might slightly change over time, so I wouldn’t wait too long.

Thanks, I hadn't really thought of the color consistency being an issue. I may need to rethink buying in waves.

Breakdown for craps I think I'm happy with and that I use for my current game using ceramics:

$1 - 400
$5 - 600
$25 - 400
$100 - 400
$500 - 100
$1000 - 80
$5000 - 20

1ks and 5ks are totally vanity chips but I figure given the quazi MOQ it's the only time to get those chips made so might as well take advantage of it.

1000 chips is NOT enough, 2000 chips is slightly too much but not cumbersome. I think I could shave 100 off of each of the 1/5/25/100 and still be good to go but it's a bit up in the air. And honestly if I shaved 400 chips off the set I'd probably give at least part of that back buying a 0.25 chip to make the set dual use.

You can, but you're essentially rolling the dice on color consistency. Usually colors are pretty consistent from batch to batch within a year or two as long as their raw material supply doesn't change. I ordered additional chips (T25 DG green and T100 black) for my Barrel House set about 12 months apart, they're exact matches. And I've found the darker colors like black, blue and imperial blue have been fairly consistent from sets produced 10+ years ago in the ASM days. However all it takes is for one of the raw material ingredients to become unavailable, and you'll get a noticeable change in color. It doesn't happen often but there's a chance - I think the most recent occurrence is a few years back with some of the dayglow colors (green/pink/tiger). It's definitely been a change for the better for those getting new sets, as the newer dayglow colors you can get today blow the ASM dayglows out of the water. But if you're adding onto a set with the previous version, you run the risk of having different shades (or having to re-order all chips from that denomination to match):

I personally would recommend either saving up and getting it all at once, or getting half the set sooner (all chips from certain denominations) and getting the second half at a later date. That way you're getting all the chips from one denomination at a time and won't have to worry about potential color differences.

Can't speak to any experience ordering from CPC - I've never done the custom thing - but I can tell you that the term "raw materials" is a VERY hot phrase right now, and for all the wrong reasons. All types of industries right now are fighting against a shortage of raw materials. I'm experiencing it heavily in my world (commercial epoxy flooring). I know that paint stores and manufacturers are suffering as well. One of the toughest items to wrangle currently, at least in my space, is pigmented materials required to make bright colors such as reds, greens, blues, etc. The material is scarce and the cost is skyrocketing. No clue if CPC is going through the same thing, but it wouldn't surprise me. Would definitely recommend getting them all at once, or at least avoid getting the same chips made twice, if you can't do the entire set altogether.

I had an order in the past FDL run and although I am very pleased with most of the chips I'm disappointed with how my $1 chips turned out and am looking to replace them next run with a different edge spot and colors all together. Since I only need 100-200 chips I'd like to just add on to someone else order since i dont meet the minimum order size. If anyone else is looking to do an FDL order and they would be willing to let me add on to their order it would be appreciated. I know that FDL is going to be way down the road since it just ran but just throwing it out there.

If you mean deadline for placing an scrown order.... I believe that was months ago
but you can check with David at CPC to try and sneak one in.. good luck
Alright, I'm not going to make that. I'll have to catch it the next time around. Thanks again.

For people who have already ordered, they will usually let you do stuff like you have in mind (small add-on). Just send David an email an ask.

What happened with the $1s?

What happened with the $1s
I went with a blue $1 chip and a few players have said they feel like they have a hard time differentiating between the $1 and $25 green chip. Outside of that I regret going with the tri moon edge spot on this chip as well. Just didn’t turn out the way I wanted it too. The $5, $25, and $100 turned out flawless though.

Pics?

I don't know man, those look outstanding to me. The blue felt might have something to do with the differentiation of the blue/green chips? I think that is a beautiful set of chips.
I appreciate the compliments and overall im very happy with the set. I definitely think the blue felt has something to do with the visual between the $25/$1's. At first I didn't see what they were talking about until i started eyeing people stacks from across the table. Im not in any rush to switch them but like most of us here, if there is ever a reason to build new chips we usually do it lol. Also the dayglo saturn was not a great choice in my opinion. I have a buddy that did a set a while back with day glow saturn and the pigment of his is definitely different than mine (like his much more).

Any idea on A-crest waiting time? I put an order in April, and am just curious for those who have recently ordered an A-crest set what their wait time was? My understanding is usually 4-6 months but I just wanted to hear from others what their experience was :)
