Things You Collect Besides Poker Chips (1 Viewer)

Hockey cards for me. Mostly Dallas Stars. I've got quite a nice Mike Modano collection.

Oh man, I love this thread. Some of this is familiar to me, some of it is stuff I didn't even know was a thing...but its so cool to see the variety of things that people are in to!

Here's my contribution to the sickness:

Board Games:

IMG_20211203_065120.jpg

I always loved board games as a kid, but like most folks it fell off for me as I entered adulthood. When my kids hit the 8-12 range around 2015 I started looking for something the family could do that was away from screens and internet. I was amazed to find that board games had gone through some kind of renaissance, and what is available today is sooooo far beyond Monopoly, Risk and Stratego. Similar to PCF for poker chips, there is an amazing forum and community around board games as well!

Nostalgia and Sci-Fi Collectibles:

I love sci-fi & anime across the board, but nothing hits the sweet spot like the terrible (but amazing!) 70's and early 80's stuff. I remember rushing home from school to watch this stuff back in the day. Back then if it wasn't related to food in your stomach, clothes on your back or something for education...the want for this kind of stuff was always met with the "Parent Glare". So of course as an adult I just over-indulge the crap outta this stuff now.
<Bonus Points if you can name all the shows>

Knives and EDC:

My love of pocket knives has led me down the oh-so-evil EDC rabbit hole. I don't collect the expensive stuff, I collect the stuff that simply appeals to me...which usually falls into the "Best bang for your buck" category. Folders, fixed blades, multitools, pens, flashlights, prybars, watches, fidgets, etc etc etc. Not only does the rabbit hole go deep on this one, but there are a ridiculous number of branching rabbit holes of equal if not greater depth.
Danger Will Robinson!!!

Great collection! I'm not really a pocket knife guy, but I did recently purchase this Civivi w/ a damascus blade for opening packages and other random shit. It's amazing how useful having a pocket knife on you at all times can be. I love this knife!

Oh yeah, the Civivi Elementum is an awesome knife for a great price! I really like the damascus and wood version you got, it looks very classy. I ended up buying the S35VN version with green micarta scales.

Here's my current desk top beater knife - cheapy Kershaw Atmos a buddy gave me (I dremeled a crude choil to facilitate sharpening). (also practicing shuffling slippery ceramics)

Couple of others one shelf down (blue and blue/black handled knives are trainers) - yes, my desk/office is a huge mess

Have you tried a Meerschaum Calabash yet? They develop amazing flavor...

I have not had an opportunity yet. It is high on my list and have been looking for one that fits just right for me. I do look to see if any new ones have come in when I visit my local shop in Boston.

I do like the look in general.

I just hate having to order. I like to see and smell the tobacco before I buy. Who knows how they store it...lol!

I'm always at least 25 minutes in the shop looking around. Plus, they let us smoke in there, so I try a free sample whole looking around.
