I am considering buying a new set (do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes :D), but it will be a bit different than my current set and structure. How many to buy of each denomination?

The denoms available:
T100
T500
T1000
T5000
T25000
T100000

9 player tournament, ~5 hours including breaks, deep stack (200BB+). My group like big starting stacks.

I'm thinking T40k for example, if using T100s. If using T500 as lowest, T200k. Starting stacks?

Blind structure T40k with T100s:
1. [+0:00] -- 100 / 200
2. [+0:20] -- 100 / 300
2. [+0:40] -- 200 / 400
3. [+1:00] -- 300 / 600
4. [+1:20] -- 400 / 800
----- Remove T100 ----
5. [+1:40] -- 500 / 1000
6. [+2:00] -- 500 / 1500
7. [+2:20] -- 1000 / 2000
8. [+2:40] -- 1500 / 3000
-------Remove T500 ----
9. [+3:00] -- 2000 / 4000
10. [+3:20] -- 3000 / 6000
11. [+3:40] -- 4000 / 8000
12. [+4:00] -- 6000 / 12000
**13. [+4:20] -- 8000 / 16000** (expected last level)
14. [+4:40] -- 12000 / 24000
15. [+5:00] -- 18000 / 32000

Blind structure T200k with T500s:
T200k start stack.
1. [+0:00] -- 500 / 1000
2. [+0:20] -- 500 / 1500
3. [+0:40] -- 1000 / 2000
4. [+1:00] -- 1500 / 3000
------ Remove T500 ----------
5. [+1:20] -- 2000 / 4000
6. [+1:40] -- 3000 / 6000
7. [+2:00] -- 4000 / 8000
8. [+2:20] -- 5000 / 10000
9. [+2:40] -- 7000 / 14000
------ Remove T1000 ----------
10. [+3:00] -- 10000 / 20000
11. [+3:20] -- 15000 / 30000
12. [+3:40] -- 20000 / 40000
13. [+4:00] -- 30000 / 60000
**14. [+4:20] -- 40000 / 80000** (expected last level)
15. [+4:40] -- 60000 / 120000
16. [+5:00] -- 80000 / 160000

Find a blind structure first.

Then starting stacks.

Then the breakdown falls in to place.

I'm not personally a fan of starting a tourney set with T100, because of where the akward T500>T1K falls, but it's definitely workable.

I would start with 100K and start blinds at 200/400, to avoid the 2x jump from level 1 to level 2.

Without thinking too much, and keeping in mind I don't use this structure myself, I'd do something like this:

*Tourney should end around level 16 or 17 the latest with 15mins levels. Breaks of 15 mins.

I agree with Paulo - T100 is a poor starting chip. 5:1 on the first color up means a shit-ton of good chips spending most of the tournament in the box. Second color-up, the same story.

That's why casinos love to start with T25s. Saves them money.

Thanks for the feedback. I really wanted to have T25s, but sadly the set in question does not have T25s...

Would it help to then maybe skip T100 and instead include the T100 000, moving up to high stakes. But then the T500 might be in an awkward space.

->
T500
T1000
T5000
T25 000
T100 000

I have one set that starts with T500, and it works quite well. Not many T500s needed. I use 6 per player, and we don't need to make a lot of change. The step to T1000s is quite natural as well.

In that case perhaps something along the lines of:

1. [+0:00] -- 500 / 1000

If you're doing a T100k tournament, you won't need T100k chips... Even with a two-table, unlimited rebuy tournament, they'll never hit the felt.

FWIW, my current chipset is T500/T1k/T5k/T20k/T50k for a T100k tournament. I've hosted triple stacks (T300k) and unlimtied rebuys and never gotten close to having a 50 T50k's in play.

5. [+1:20] -- 2000 / 4000
6. [+1:40] -- 3000 / 6000
7. [+2:00] -- 4000 / 8000
8. [+2:20] -- 5000 / 10000
9. [+2:40] -- 7000 / 14000
------ Remove T1000 ----------
10. [+3:00] -- 10000 / 20000
11. [+3:20] -- 15000 / 30000
12. [+3:40] -- 20000 / 40000
13. [+4:00] -- 30000 / 60000
14. [+4:20] -- 40000 / 80000
15. [+4:40] -- 60000 / 120000
16. [+5:00] -- 80000 / 160000
Swap in 6000/12000 and 8000/16000 for levels 8 and 9, and you're all set.

I use one rack each (T500, T1000, T5000, T25000) for a 10-player single table with a 10/10/7/10 starting stacks (300K, or 300 starting big blinds).

Plenty of extra T5000 chips for color-ups, and plenty of extra T25K chips for re-buys if using T200K or smaller starting stacks (just decrease the number of starting T25Ks in each stack).

Four racks for a single table, or eight racks for two tables. T100K chips not required, but a few would likely see play in a 20-player event.

He was considering T200k starting stacks. That would mean shoving 72 chips around the table. Doable, but depending on how awesome the T100k is, I would support picking up a handful. With BG's T300k you'd be looking at a minimum of 108 chips in the endgame. I'd definitely support a handful of T100ks in this scenario.

Thanks!
I am going into the think tank now.

Though I prefer the visual of the T100s to the T100000s chip. No good structure to make a potential T100-T500-T1000-T5000-T25k set work? The one chaos posted above seems good.
