Hi all,
I am new to tournament hosting with big chips, however have done a few before with smaller denom chips. I want to know if this starting stack is acceptable to anyone outside of my poker group. We do like to have a lot of chips to play and I was okay with purchasing them.

2 T5000

With this structure…
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300

200/400
300/600
400/800

It seems a little weird to have the T25 be the base chip but then start with a small blind above it at 50/100. Would expect to 25/50 be the opening blind or just do a T100 set. The addition of the T25s when not really needed does give you a mass of chips which might be your goal though, and if everyone there likes it, then who cares roll with it

When looking around PCF at different discussions I think you will find that there are better ways to have more chips on the table. In your case it would be having more T100-T1K's and less T25. Biggest reason is the T25's go away first, so you lose about 40% of your chips on the table in the first ~2hrs of play. And based on your structure, people wouldn't need and might not even use the T25's that much based on the blinds.

I don't use a T25 base tournament so I can't really recommend a starting stack, but you can definitely find many existing discussions to help guide your choices.

And for the comment above, starting with 50/100 just avoids have a 100% blind increase in the first level. I personally don't think it's a big deal, but it's a good way to smooth out the blind increases and also lets people throw moar chips in the pot lol

My 2 biases are efficiency and making tourneys fast enough so can play cash after lol. If you have an opening big blind of 100, all I think of is a T100 base with 100/100 to start. If you want gradual blinds with a huge stack of T25, can do 25/50 then 25/75, also gives the 25s some time to shine.

I usually use ChatGPT for my homepage. put the denominations, etc. in and it comes up with a good starting stack

On PCF there are mainly 4 different stacks that get recommended. I'll lay them out for a T20k (probably the most common setup).

8/8/6/6/2 - The Manzoni Stack
+fewer chips to buy
+easier for the host to color up
-not very many chips for players that want chips
-making change becomes harder and more common
*8/8/4/7/2 is a very similar common variation

12/12/5/6/2 - The Standard Stack
+change is made easier
+players feel like they have more chips
-coloring up greens and blacks requires more than an empty rack per table

16/16/6/10/1 - The Fat Stack
+change is never an issue
+players get a bunch of chips from the start
-expensive with multi-table tournaments
-more effort to color up

12/12/3/12/1 - The Purple Hate Stack
+player get lots of starting chips
+the number of 500s is greatly reduced increasing efficiency
+more emphasis on 1k which is the late game workhorse
+-same as standard stack in most ways
-if you have purple chips you like they get completely sidelined
