I'm starting to get tempted to buy some casino plaques -- although the price tag on some of those bad boys can temper that temptation pretty quickly. In spite of this, the "want" level has been increasing lately.

Does anyone have any really cool plaques? I could see myself starting a collection, much like the sample chip collection.

I'm thinking more about casino plaques, not the customs that I've seen many folks post recently (also cool).

If you have plaque pron, can I see??

Like this (image taking directly from a current eBay auction without permission -- please if you are the owner and don't want this posted, let me know). Isn't it pretty?

Casino plaques are an expensive hobby for sure. I really love the more complex ones with multiple lunettes, gold lace and what have you... Compared to them my plaques are a bit plain, but then again these I get to play with :)

Are those customs? Those are amazing!

Oh. My. God.

What an amazing collection. A treasure indeed. Seeing something like this makes the "want" meter move rapidly toward the "gotta have it" zone!
Beautiful. Really amazing.

Wow, very nice. What sizes are the plaques? Where did you pick them up?

These have been scattered to the wind. :(

100 $1000
60 $5000

I love those plaques...simple, but elegant with lots of class. There was a time when I tried very hard to find some for sale, but could never find any. Lots of proud pictures (as it should be), but no interest in selling. I know why they were never up for sale, because if I ever got my hands on any, I wouldn't sell them either!!!

They are pretty. An expensive alternative to an obscenely expensive $1000 chip. Not great to play with, though. The red and orange colors are hard to distinguish from the side in stacks. You had problems because very few were made. I think that was about half of what was made. @H/Q would know best.

Found them. Are the $20 MSKs that much duller next to the matsuis?
Not to take anything away from the MSKs because they are awesome for the price, but, in my opinion, the Matsuis are far superior quality wise. If I had MSKs and never had Matsuis, I would be perfectly happy. But once I got the Matsuis, there is just no going back:D

I agree about the Matsui's. They are quite incomparable in quality. The down side is that they are SOOOO good, I don't want to use them for play...I just want to sit there and look at them while I fondle them. There is one tiny downside, however. They are made so well and their surface is so smooth (like butter), that they tend to have static cling and stick to one another when picking one off the top. I don't know if this gets better with use or it's just because I very rarely get out the Matsui plaques for play.

I think MSK is a great compromise between cost and playability. They are improving their manufacturing process to allow for better, crisper graphics and more options in colors and textures!

Nice PrOn! Plaques are expensive. How many plaques per person are normally recommended? I assume at some point it makes more sense to switch over to a chip vs a plaque if you need a large number of that denom, so I wonder what that magic number could be (i.e. having 10 plaques per person or 100 plaques on the table for a 10 player single table may not make as much sense as using chips instead)?

So what, maybe 3 plaques per player? Seems like that will have more perceived value if they are rarer on the table and also helps with staying within budget constraints. I'm curious what the plaque guys feel is the right amount of plaques on a 10man table?
