When I mocked up a bunch of new mold ideas I’d set the smallest lines to .40mm. I felt that .25mm was too small and .50mm was too big. I was totally guessing by sight and didn’t use anything for reference. .35mm seems a good thickness in my opinion.
 
Regarding the sharpness of the edge of the chips:
If they are the same sharpness as the Tina scrown that is good. Sharper than that could be bad. You want the edge broken somewhat. I think that if they are super shap (maybe impossible, idk) they are not going to handle or shuffle well. Think of a brand new Paulson or CPC chip that basically never breaks in. Brand new paulsons SUCK to shuffle. They only become great after some breaking in and if they never broke in people would not love them like they do. I am not saying that these ceramic chips will never wear, but they will certainly take a looooooooong time to change at all how they feel. Ceramic chips do not wear well in a Casino environment as they wear through the printing and look bad, but in a home game environment this will basically never happen...well it could happen but LOTS of hosting.


yea, not sure about this either. 1mm barrel height spread over 20 chips isn't much.

I have a calipers (in inches because I actually used it at work) and I just spent some time measuring various chips & my conclusion is that the extra weight that Tina's scrown chips have suprisingly (lol) comes from the fact that they are just a little bigger. Both bigger dia and thicker. Both dimensions are very small and when all 4 of these chips are set next to one another on a flat & hard table they all seem to be exactly the same. You can not feel a difference in height sliding a finger or nail across from one chip to the next and you certainly can not see the difference in size.

Just for reference cheap copy paper that we all have in our printer is .004" thick so the extra thickness of the Tina scrown vs the Tina ngm is thicker by 1/2 the thickness of a piece of paper & the Tina scrown is roughly bigger dia by roughly the thickness of a piece of paper. Was this all done intentionally or did it just happen. Ikd, but it do know that the difference isn't much....

So…. Do you think anyone can tell what the 43 would look and feel like by comparing to the 39? I mean you guys are talking about such minute differences and then say “well, they will be like the other ones that are different” Your going to have to get samples to tell anything.

Be careful about the beveled edge. The tower and spear had a beveled edge to help with handling and wear but it was a but much.
 
It's like the other hybrids but like this.

Agreed, but there is some crossover here between a new 39mm web mold (which this discussion is relevant) and a 43 mm mold which you are probably right that samples are going to be necessary

I totally agree. In my opinion both @justincarothers and Danny got that edge just about right. I know that there are others that disagree on the edge, but I can not see or feel any difference between the two even under a 10 x loop they look and feel exactly the same to me (the edge) All pics the Tina - scrown hybrid is on the left (River Rat) & on the right is justin's/Tina's New Greek Mold with a BTP sticker

Great, moving forward.

Have you asked her about the differences in both thickness and diameters of the ngm and danny's scrown? Was that on purpose or were they specced out the same and those are just the type of small differences that we would have to expect? I think it is a VERY valid question & without the answer to it we are kind of left hanging a little.

Not sure if there was a question implied by putting both of those images up? I know they are not the same and the two guys that made them certainly know they are different and you and a few others that have been following along in this thread.

Are we supposed to put it to a vote or just comment on which one we like better? Not sure.....

Maybe it would be better if you re-sized them so they were the same and sitting right next to one another & ask people which they like better. It would be easier to compare that way. I have already said which I like, but the difference is subtle for sure and the choice of ordering for me will not hinge on one vs the other being chosen.

In the following screenshot, the bottom mockup's lines look thinner but are set to 0.35mm just like the top mockup. The two graphics were created in different software (Illustrator for the top, Inkscape for the bottom) and perhaps the screen rendering differs slightly, but if it's possible, pretend the thickness of the lines are the same and try to compare the admittedly very subtle difference between the layouts of the shapes and circles in the two mockups...

If I am stepping on toes, I didn't mean to. Just figured that if I am thinking that question then others would be too. As far as what has been posted in this thread it does not seem like this decision has been made yet and seems to me like hearing what people like would be useful before making a decision. Just the fact that you posted those two images the way you did told me that this decision was not made yet....

We need someone who speaks (Mandarin?) to speak to them directly. I mention this in the other thread. It's really hard to communicate with them. They don't fully answer questions, and I find myself asking them the same questions over and over with different words...

New Web mold will have the same label size as the new Greek mold does. 24mm recess area with a 23.8mm label. The 43 mm has a larger label size right @MrRossKeys

Tina and I talked and I'm going to do another poll if this does well and the next hybrid will have a larger label area. Maybe Star mold....
