I bought 25 of these purple diamond chips in about 2004. I used them for rebuy tokens for a multi-table charity tournament. I had no other use for them but I ran across them several weeks back. They feel great, are decently weighted, and are textured enough that they stack and don't slide around much at all. I even like the sound.

I ordered 25 of these orange diamond chips, thinking "Hey, if these are decent, I'll build a cheap tournement set." They were listed as 8.5g.

They are NOT decent. If the dog farts in the other room, a stack of 10 will fall over.

Does anyone know of a supplier who sells super diamonds that are textured and actually 8.5g or better?

My local casino had a set of stamped plastic super diamonds for tourneys. They had a nice soft feel, sort of rubbery. They stacked very nicely. Very much different than the ubiquitous cheap, slick super diamonds. I have no idea where to get the nicer ones.

I sure wish I would have known I liked these almost 20 years ago. Never gave it any thought until a few weeks ago. These do have a slight rubber feel to them.

The vintage Super Diamonds (i.e. those made at least 40 years ago or longer) have superior feel and sound compared to any modern Super Diamond. Look for:
- injection mold pip within the diamonds themselves
- equivalent width inner and outer ring

Weight will probably not be that much different. 8.5g is probably about right. You won't find them at 10g - they're not that dense. It's just a harder (and better) type of of plastic.

I had to buy a couple of barrels of whatever the current kind of diamond chips are on an emergency basis a few months ago. They are by far and away the worst chips I have ever encountered. I swear to god they must be made of oil or something with an anti-magnetic quality that prevents them from being able to stack..

I'm pretty sure it is some form of Voodoo curse.
