Ceramic vs. China Clays (3 Viewers)

@ekricket what a wonderful set. Curious that you used dollar signs on a tourney set... I thought that was kind of frowned upon. I guess you're future proofing for inflation

Anyway I hate you all. Now I need to build a 43mm DDLM set. I can't afford this place between awesome chips and Chanman.

My guess is around $0.10 per chip. If you go to the ABC web site, the prices for custom 39mm ceramics are exactly $0.10 less than the prices for custom 43mm ceramics for every quantity.

The cost for semi custom denominations and/or switching graphics appears to be $0.05 per chip (on the BRProPoker web site).

Pretty darn reasonable for a semi custom chip set.
Correct. The price difference between 39mm and 43mm ceramics from most manufacturers is around 10c per chip. True for ceramic hybrids, too.

Well, feel free to correct me. I never said it was anything more than a guess. But seems reasonable based on publicly available information.

Seems reasonable, but their pricing isn't that straightforward. Custom rates apply.

For PolyInno there is only a 4c difference from quotes I got recently (60c vs 56c).

woah, I have been strongly considering a DDLM set as A backup set simply because they are just so much fun. I hadn’t even thought about doing 43mm and I think this just pushed me over the edge! Did you just message Gene to setup a custom order like this?

Best to email us for a custom order - chip@brpropoker.com
I'll be the first to admit I'm not good with PM's on here!

43mm DDLM fall under our custom 43mm pricing. I understand the thinking that "Custom 43mm is 10 cents more than custom 39mm, so these should just be 10 cents more than Muertos pricing." The problem with this thinking is that the 39mm Muertos pricing is significantly discounted to the custom pricing because we can run large quantities at a time. We can run tons of Muertos 39mm edges, and without question will have orders to use them. Not so with 43mm. All of the efficiencies that allow us to offer the 39mm Muertos at pricing that averages over 30% off of our custom pricing are not there for 43mm runs.

Thanks Gene! Your team shipped out my samples a day or two ago. You will have an order incoming soon once I decide on my colors/denoms!

So who's up for a 43mm DDLM group buy ... It's probably impossible because everyone would want custom denoms.

Time to sell more blood so I can start to save up for my order...

Keep your blood, custom denoms is not the issue.

Being able to run the edges in large quantities results in lower production costs.

I am in for 800 to 1000 43mm chips if collectively the demand allows BR Poker to produce them with the same efficiencies as the 39mm semi custom chips.

We'll try a group buy and see if there's enough interest to do a large run of 43mm Muertos. Probably won't be until next month. Chinese New Years plus Corona virus has us SLAMMED right now.

I can attest that the Royals are amazing. I've got a couple of weeks to wait for my custom labels to arrive, but the sample labels I received are perfect, and I have received glowing reviews from my poker buddies to this point.

Just curious - where did you go for you custom labels?

My opinion on these:

If you're gonna get a ceramic, get a good one like from @ABC Gifts and Awards, you can't go wrong with them. The Nevada Jacks are $.50 each, that'll give you an idea of the quality of the chip.

China Clays I don't like that much, especially as I learned later on the Milanos. You can actually break them in half if you press them too hard, and the same thing it seems is true with the scroll chips. You get what you pay for.

I haven't tried the Royals yet but I've heard good things about them. I pulled the trigger and got a DDLM 43mm cash set because the design is fun and colorful. :)

I'm kinda upset that BRPro doesn't have semi-customs with the wicked spades. Guess my collection remains at 540.

Anyways, in answer to the OP, I say this:

I don't like the China Clays *UNLESS* They're the ones from @Apache. Also they had the GPI Monacos for a while so if you're gonna go China Clay, go with them. I've heard really good things about the Royals. Don't waste your time with the Milanos. I like the Dunes, Majestics and Royals, but if you go with them, there will be a smell AND there is a small chance the chips will break, especially the Milanos. I've seen it happen. It's not pretty.

I enjoy the ceramics and when I first bought a set of them, I got the Wicked Spades because I liked them and all my young friends gave me compliments on the quality and the durability. The colors don't fade with home use, but if you're gonna go with a ceramic, go with the higher quality chip. I have now two sets from @ABC Gifts and Awards and one set from BBO Pro Poker. To be honest, as much as people were fawning over the Howdy, Cowboy chips being only $200 for a set of 500, I can feel the difference between them and the Wicked Spades.

Sunfly has some sweet ceramics and hybrids, the Ravenor has a nice design, as does the Ascona, some of the rest of the ones, except Lucid Diamond I could take or leave.

I prefer the Ceramics, they are durable and the colors and designs will only fade if you use them as often as you do in a casino. In home games, they'll last for a long time, plus you can customize the hell out of them.

From what I can tell, this is the hierarchy of chip quality. I'll have to get a sample of the Polyclays to see how they handle but other than that, I think this is pretty much it.

The ceramic hybrids are insane, and deserve consideration, as well. I had a single chip gifted to me, and that one chip makes me want a full set of them.

Yup!!! F-ing Sunfly. I really do like their chips. Next group buy is going to be hard to resist.
I wish BR Pro would make these. Even if I had to apply the labels myself, I would rather order from them than SunFly.
