Favorite Set of Cards to Play With (2 Viewers)

Hoping to resurrect this topic as well rather than create a new thread. Group of 8 or so play about every other month on average during the year. Upgraded to NJ chips this year, and used the plastic NJ cards that came with the set along with a paper set. Group preferred the paper cards over the plastic due to sliding (due to hosting rotation, no actual felt table). Got a set of four color Copags and got the same feedback.

Is this going to be a side effect for all plastic cards? Would prefer a plastic card recommendation if possible, due to the positives on durability and less likely to get damaged from various shuffling styles.

I really like the Desjgn cards because they remind me of a slightly thicker and less slick pre-USPC Kem cards. The unique pip design and court cards are also pretty cool IMHO.

Thanks for the suggestion. Was trying to decide between Kem and Desjgn from this thread. However, being extremely new gathered that Kem was no longer the quality they once were.

They're all going to slide to some degree. Desjgn and Faded Spade 2.0s seem to slide the least, the Copags I have are the slickest. I have a bunch of poker newbies and they're all used to plastics now. Desjgn is a good one to start with, though.

Bicycle Prestige have a pretty nice paper feel to them, give those a shot. Your group will appreciate plastics once they get used to them.

I really like the Modiano Platinum setup these days. Really nice cards.

Updated list (in no particular order):
Gemaco Superflex
Fournier WSOP 2012
Cartamundi CCP

I prefer poker size & standard index, and from the several setups I have ordered over the last few weeks, I keep going back to the Copag 1546's. The top card DOES slide a bit, which can be annoying, but I find they have the best overall feel, and I really like the design. It's traditional, but just a BIT different. I like how each number/letter is a bit more "block-ish" and square. The price is right on them, too.

I also like KEM arrows, but they're at a steep price point, and seem to be a little TOO flexible/soft for my taste. Easier to shuffle, but not as nice to handle (just my opinion).

I also just got a Cartamundi setup that seemed pretty nice in my initial "unboxing," but I haven't had a real chance to shuffle/deal/handle them yet.

I really like these: Da Vinci Persiano Italian 100-Percent Plastic Playing Cards (2-Deck Set Poker Size with Hard Shell Case and 2 Cut Cards, Regular Index), Green/Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EIO88WG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_JdA9BbQH9XQEC they have a great look and feel just like Copags, but never bleed as I've seen with multiple Copags I've owned

Just ordered these on Amazon to add to the growing collection of cards and sample chips sitting on my dining room table. Same day delivery FTW... thanks for the recco!

Bicycle cards for me. Not a huge fan of the plastic cards. They just tend to create static and stick to each other

Say wha?
Never heard of that problem before. Have you ever tried a deck of KEMs (or other aforementioned brand from this thread), or just a random plastic deck from a dice chip set?

Kems - the best feeling cards made bar none and the measuring stick for every other card in that department IMO. Store them upside down with a dealer button and cut card on them and they will not bow. If you frequent Amazon often they will randomly go on sale for $17- 23. Never spend $30 on them.

Desjgn - “classic culture” and “casino bridge cards” - the Cultures are my second favorite card by feel after Kem. The Casinos are nice and similar to many of the Italian brands in flexibility and texture. Desjgn are the most beautiful cards made by far. Super classy. If he made all his designs in bridge size I’d own all of them.

Having tried virtually every card made, I’d be happy with just Kem and Desjgn forever.

Outside of Kems most of the cards feel very similar and having spent a lot of money acquiring samples of them all I wouldn’t advice anyone do so. I’ve moslty been underwhelmed like with Piatnik for example. They are fine just not that different than other more accessible cards.

As someone mentioned Cartamundi CCP can often be found on Amazon for $8.50. They feel exactly like Gemaco Superflex and are by far the best deal for a set of cards I know of.

Copags are fine and used to be the only option next to Kem years ago. They usually fade fast.

This is crazy talk o_O

Only ones I’ve seen that do that are Royals. Which shouldn’t be called cards.
Do you guys have good recommendations for plastic cards? Coppag?

No I haven't. I'll have to look into them. Just remember playing with some no name branded plastic cards. Maybe that could be the issue

A really easy to source quality plastic card I have tried is the Ace plastic cards available in red and blue at Walmart. They are made by Cartamundi. Also nice and available at Walmart are the Bicycle Prestige and they have a very nice box.

Now, if you are ok moving to the ergonomically superior bridge sized cards (y) they are many option but you will have to order on Amazon or elsewhere online.

Here is the best deal in plastic cards I know off https://www.amazon.com/Cartamundi-100-Plastic-Setup-Standard/dp/B06Y3F8CST

Do you like standard or jumbo index?

Bicycle Prestige has been mentioned several times but I can't seem to find bridge/jumbo index for sale for a reasonable price - any pointers?

They are tough to find. A retailer on Amazon was selling them cheap for years but without a case. Here they are

They are nice but not worth the effort to find a box unless you have an old one like I did.

Just buy some DaVinci or Copags in the style or size you want. Better yet, see if Desjgn still has his casino deck available.

Otherwise, if you don’t mind standard index, the Cartamundi I linked above are superior to the Prestige/Fourniers IMO. Other than Modiano Acetate cards, I own a setup of practically everything mentioned in this thread. Those Cartamundi’s are by far the best bang for the buck.

the WSOP 2013 Bicycle cards are excellent, a little pricey but the best cards I have played with. Also love the Gemaco Superflex Bridge Sized cards, great weight and snap to them.

Thanks guys. Not exactly cheap though - at those prices I would rather get Desjgn. I was expecting something more around $10 per pair. I blame @BGinGA for getting my hopes up!

But for the low cost, you just can't beat Bicycle Prestige bridge/jumbo for the quality/value combination.
