Hello everyone! this is my first official thread post, i apologize if this question is already out there or old hat. but I am looking to pick up another set of Copags soon, I already have a red/blue set of poker sized 4 color index that I've only used them a few times. I do not like them for regular games as they are hard to use, i don't play poker so I've not experienced in how they feel/shuffle after putting hours into using the decks. playing with a poker sized deck and trying to imagine bridge size is pretty much guess work, i can see how the flex could be an issue. It's also a tad hard to find irl side by side pics of poker and bridge copags with standard index, Kem is very interesting as it uses the same court card art size in poker and narrow. just the card "shrinks" around the art but it's still the same.

I tried to look around the form for a thread on Copags card sizes as I'm unsure what to get, I've heard from the legendary homepokertourney.org that poker size Copags are the only size to get. as bridge size is too flexible/unwieldy to shuffle and the court card art is way too small compared to poker size or other brands in bridge size, i know there's plenty of reviews on Copags and thoughts on other brands but just looking for review/opions on poker vs bridge size copags.

I prefer standard index in both poker and bridge, and jumbo index in poker only as i think it looks too "squished" in narrow sized cards. but bridge is the size i always end up using regardless of brand, i can play around with the poker Copags i already have. but would like to hear if it's worth just getting a set in bridge to try out, or just stick with getting a poker size set.

I already have Kems and Fournier in both sizes, Piatnik in wide size, and Da vinci in bridge. though i did have a da vinci poker set for a short bit, but ended up giving them away as they didn't feel great in the hands. I'm looking to maybe pick up a set of Modiano acetate jumbo poker cards (i know how we all feel about them), a dal negro bridge set, and Gemaco. though i'd like to handle Gemaco irl since the art looks kind of ugly, and seem like they'd get put in the toy box forever because of that. they are a bit costly for me to end up hating them, but with everyone loving them there must be something i'm missing. I did Kickstart 2 sets of Desjgns' up coming blackjack index cards as they look really cool, trying not to blow up my bank account with cards. i just missed the huge poker bomb of the mid/late 10s and all the low prices and choices available, i'd love to pick up cards that will get hard to find if i wait around and avoid the really cool added tariff cost of imported cards.

I hope it's not an annoying post to throw out there, and any option is much appreciated! even if it's just "they are the same don't think too much about it"

From my own experience -

Choose Bridge if you deal a lot of hands yourself, specially if your hands are starting to feel a bit of the ole arthritis. They are easier to handle. Ask pro dealers.

Choose Poker if your environment causes cards to warp prematurely (hot and humid environments).

On the purely aesthetic side, I find that for some cards the face cards on bridge decks look a less attractive than their poker sized variants.

Either way, Jumbo Index regardless of size.

Bridge size is pretty much the standard for poker rooms everywhere. Why? Dealers have told us it’s because there’s less hand fatigue with bridge size.
In my experience, poker size cards feel a bit flexier than bridge cards on the same stock. So apparently it’s the extra size of poker cards that make them more burdensome to handle, hour after hour.

For my game, where we pass the deal, there’s no concern about dealer fatigue. If that’s your game, then none of this matters. Which one do you like better?
Personally, I don’t really care. I’ll lean towards bridge size because that’s the standard. But it’s such a minor difference, who cares.
Go with what you like. Or go with whatever’s cheaper. But in a self dealt game, it really doesn’t matter. This isn’t a big deal.

Are you playing poker or bridge?
Canasta, wist, euchre etc. i play with paper tally hos if I'm in a danger zone for plastic, but i have a good mix of bridge and poker size cards. Just need one more jumbo poker deck to be happy with my spread, but narrow size is always what i go to regardless.

I forgot to say I've been collecting cards and around card reviewers for a long time, i use to use poker tourney for cards to buy back when i was a 17 (aaaaah). So i know size/index is personal preference that can be used in every game

Mostly was asking about copags only, i already have a poker size and didn't know if that was what i should stick with. I'd rather buy 1 set of copags than 2 if i hated bridge

I prefer bridge but do bust out a poker sized deck once in a while since I have a few I really like (Trefl and Angel).
I think it's kinda like playing with the oversized 43 mm (or undersized 36mm) chips. It feels weird at first because most are used to 39mm, but it doesn't take much handling/shuffling before they feel "normal".

Hey wanted to state this is for COPAG cards only, and what people think of COPAG bridge size vs poker size. Not personal preference of size or index, i know there's a ton of posts already on that and asking would be repeated content. I am looking to get a new set of COPAGS and heard bridge size is inferior to poker sized COPAGS, either; too thin, shuffle/handle bad, and artwork is small on the faces.

I already own both bridge and poker sized cards in a mix of jumbo, 4 pip and standard index. Just didn't know if i should by my next COPAG set in poker or bridge size, if one was truly better than the other.

I already own both bridge and poker sized cards in a mix of jumbo, 4 pip and standard index in both sizes. So i have a feel for all indexes and sizes, Once in the hand i agree there's not that much of a difference in sizing, easier to hold 10+ cards at once in narrow. But it's doable with poker, my Bicycle branded canasta set is standard wide size. I prefer narrow in shuffling and holding, but if i love a design I'm okay if it only comes in wide.

Just didn't know if i should by my next COPAG set in poker or bridge size, if one was truly better than the other. Here's a screenshot from homepokertourney, again do not know if it was the legend's personal preference or the cards are better in wide. I'm on mobile so if the site

That’d still be people’s personal preferences, just solely on COPAGs. They are cheap, I’d roll the dice and find out for myself.

Much appreciated totally thought about that! I'm not wanting to get stuck on tiny things that people say are there, but it's not that big a deal in reality like poker being "personal objectively" better than bridge. I'm just in-between wanting to rehome some of my cards I don't use, so buying cards to turn around and rehome is a bit daunting. I'm trying to sell some old military surplus clothes on e bay and it sucks when it sits, and used cards i feer would sit a long time or I'd have to lose a lot of money. just because they're open and used for solitaire 5 times, still not as enticing as buying new for a few bucks more.

So in a weird spot of "do i buy more cards before letting go of others? Or wait till they sell before getting more?". Trying to get ahead of any price increases or the cards Thanos evaporate away like euro brands basically are at this point, and never know what will happen so can't say Copag won't be 2x price. Hopefully not and if nothing happens heck yeah

I’ve never seen anybody else suggest that Copag prints their bridge size cards on inferior stock. That doesn’t make much sense to me.
Yeah thought it was strange when i read that even years ago, i believe it's not "literally" the stock is inferior as in quality. But maybe it's inferior to play with by hand feel or something? Preference is vastly different than fact in card reviews so hard to say, hence why i posted as i know people on here know their cards well.

Bridge sized cards are SOOO much nicer to shuffle and deal. Go to every poker room and in Vegas and AC and try to find poker sized cards being used…you won’t. That’s a “clue”. I’ve actually never seen poker sized cards being used at any card room in any state…but I’m most familiar with AC then Vegas.

Have both sizes of copag in various guises and really can’t tell much difference between them unless your dealing for a long time, Copag get grubby and fleck just the same regardless of size but if you pick them up cheap enough that negates these issues IMO
