Don't blame Canadians for PayPal fees (1 Viewer)

Did this thread really need to be created? Sounds like an argument over $5.

Love both Tim Horton’s and Dunkin Donuts. Slight edge to DD because of availability (to me) and their donuts are better.

Not meaning throwing anything on the fire here, but just last night I found out that when sending F&F from US to Canada, there's a fee charged. I was really surprised by this, but I guess that's the cost of doing international business. Yes, I could have avoided that fee and done G&S, but then the other party would have to pay it (which wasn't fair to them either). In this case, my F&F fee was less than the G&S fee, so I swallowed the $5 and moved on.

Point is this: I've been on PCF for over 2 years making lots of purchases and trades and I literally just ran into this last night. I had no clue. I could see how, if the situation was reversed, the other party might be like "WTF" since they weren't expecting any extra fees. But it's just the way it is; we don't always realize what's happening behind the scenes when there are banks and financial entities that cross borders.

Oh shit. Tim Horton’s donuts must be awful. Because Dunkin Donuts donuts are so bad, they’re legit like maybe a half step above the hostess shit you get out of a vending machine.

Don’t make me start a thread blasting Bostonians’ taste in donuts

Tim Hortons sucks. Not even a Canadian company anymore.

Their coffee is horrible and all their baked products are shipped to stores frozen and partially baked from a factory.

If you visit Canada, find a local cafe/bakery.

For my first international purchase, I did not know about the $5 fee until I started to send the funds on a ~$200 deal. I then paid the $5 and went about my day.

What's the issue here again?

This is twice in a month a Canadian chipper “didn’t know how PayPal works” or that there were ever ANY fees, so I end up paying a surprise.
So pardon my generality, but it’s twice in a month.
So you knew already that PayPal was going to charge you the fee to pay a Canadian and then we’re shocked when they charged you the fee to pay a Candian. Now you blame Canada that PayPal charged you the fee you knew they were going to charge you?

Who is the sneaky one?

Hey you can call my city a bunch of racist potato eating gingers but don’t you dare generalize Dunkin’ Donuts donuts to Bostonians taste in donuts. :confused

Also one of my favorite SNL sketches in the last decade:

The one who dodged the direct question because I suspected this would happen again. That’s why I asked, for clarification so there wouldn’t be a surprise. I directly raised this issue before the total was supplied.

If only he were the one charging the fee, he may have had an answer for you. Yet he was not the right person to ask.

German saying that fits perfectly: "Die $5 machen die Ente auch nicht fett." sort of translates too: "The extra $5 doesn't make the duck fat either"

As an interantional buyer I'm constantly contributing to PayPals profit... but next time I will definitely try to get my fees back from the sneaky americans.

Oh wait! I also have a US citizenship.... shit  :ROFLMAO:

Never had a Tim Horton's but I've had Dunkin, yeah its pretty bad. But then again I was raised on nothing but Krispy Kreme...

There's a fee involved in any PayPal transaction between US and international accounts unfortunately.

Its lower if you use a PayPal balance and keep it in USD, maybe only $5 or so? If you use a credit card to pay it starts getting really fucking expensive.

That being said, I cover the fees when I'm buying and I expect buyers to do the same when I'm selling. But I can get a bit confusing admittedly.

Fuck PayPal lol
Yup. This fee happens every time you do international, even if it's USD to USD F&F

I always got a sneaky vibe from you but couldn't quite put my finger on it. You've been exposed!

What a fantastic morning. Slept well, had a good breakfast, and now enjoying a coffee...
Oh, and then there is this thread.

Why is this even spilling over to the forum? Are there false accusations being made publicly somewhere? (wouldn't be the first time if there was.)
Hahahaha. Oh lord. I needed this.

Yes. But Now I feel the need to clarify. Donuts are like pizza, beer, and coffee - people can get snooty and critique them, but in my mind, there is no “bad” when it comes to these things. “Noticeably less good” would be my preferred phrase, I think.
