I hope the Singapore officials catch this scumbag. I went to Singapore to work for over a month in 2005. We were afraid to chew gum over there as it was not allowed and we were told the cops take spitting and littering seriously. They will deal with you over that stuff. I remember some US Ambassador's kid who was caned for Vandelizing cars over there. He was caught once so they warned him and then caught him again. They ruled that he needed to be caned. Bill Clinton who was President tried to step in, but to no avail.
A cab driver in Singapore once told me Singapore is a fine city. They will fine you for this, and fine you for that. ;)

My roommates old passwords were always math problems. 3plusonequals4 in a random number to word format.
So good. I'm going to use this... er... something like this...

So I changed my password and setup the 2 step verification. It worked the first couple of times after I logged back in and I was sent a code. Now I just log back in without the 2 step verification working. Anyone else having this problem?

What shocks me here is he returned the $190 in hopes of getting a the whole $325. This hacker is most likely a small time hacker who isn't so bright. He had $190 already and you are lucky he was dumb and returned the $190 to you to try to get a little more money. A Major more experienced hacker would be trying to sell BTP, AS, CDIs or sets that would be able to get him bigger scores. He went for more obscure chips that not as many people be on the look out for. I glad it worked out for you. Was the Paypal address he was trying to use reported?

I think this is not my job to adres this here . But as the person in question is me who went to trough just a hour ago, this is very concerning. So here it goes ;
@justincarothers listed a set for sale ;

I immediately called dibs as those chips were the exactly ones I was looking for
I paid $190 by PayPal and told him I’ll pay $135 in about a hour, the set was $325 shipped

I never dealt with @justincarothers so therefore his behavior wasn’t that suspicious at first, he was very inpatient and said he wanted the whole payment immediately and not even wait a hour. Now this is personal preference so I didn’t know what was going on. Okay first thing is first, Justin was HACKED , the person I was talking to wasn’t Justin and I should’ve know it because the flag on this profile wasn’t USA while location is Texas. But I’m relatively new here, so I didn’t catch up.
However, the guy who was portraying himself as Justin refunded me in hope to receive full payment to a other account.
Meanwhile @JeepologyOffroad pmed me about what was going on, that @justincarothers was hacked.
I’m very shocked, and this is very concerning. What will this mean for future deals ? Luckily I have my money back , but imagine if I made the whole $325 payment I would’ve gotten scammed for sure.
In the grand scheme of things this was probably a good thing. Thankfully @Poppin92 didn’t lose his money and the security of everyone’s accounts will be much better now that we all know to change passwords and add in 2 step authentication. Every cloud... :)

The hacker is from Singapore?
Not sure that has been confirmed.

Think another hacked user was showing Romania as their location.

While it is possible there were multiple hackers from different locations (including Singapore and Romania), it is also possible a single hacker was using a VPN which would let them appear to be in different locations.

If that is the case, the hacker could be from literally anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Including, apparently, @Josh Kifer 's living room.

Posted this in a different thread, but it's important and worth repeating here.

If multiple PCF members have been hacked, it's quite possible that the PCF password database has been compromised, meaning that it's quite possible someone with criminal intent and active fraud attempts now knows your PCF password.

The most important thing to do now is to make sure that you are not using your PCF password anywhere else, such as eBay or paypal. If you have been, I encourage you to change your password on those other sites ASAP.

Also - bumping this thread to keep it near the top is less helpful than keeping the thread free of crap so that people can easily find relevant and helpful information about what's happened. MUCH less helpful.
Not really. Any website doing passwords the last 15 years doesn't store the password in the db but a hash of the db. If they have the db they can reverse the hash but it does requires an awful lot of CPU power, so they usually used a rainbow table but again, it's not trivial. IF this is the case here, it means that breach happened weeks or months ago.

Since everyone were forced to change their password, all that work is now void which is why most hackers capable of that method don't go about it like what happened here. A more like scenario is a zero-day security hole in the forum software or an admin account was hacked, which allows you to take the role of any user.

Quick search for muk4s brings up some online poker stats. Could be someone trying to feed their habit.

TLDR; I was asked by the site to change my password and immediately did so.
Hope everything goes well for everybody.

...or just be cautious with where you're sending money. If you have the seller's address from before, and he suddenly gives you another address, it's a red flag (scammers' standard MO, not only here).
Agree with this approach. It was a gmail address they gave me for PayPal. (I didn’t send any money).

Has to be a strange coincidence, but one of our credit cards had a fraudulent charge of $3,400 this morning at 4:00 AM CST. Chase caught it and and alerted us.
Wow odd they went big or went home. I’ve heard of a lot of ones that buy a lot of mid-range stuff they launder and resell but $3.4K is going for the gold! Glad if got caught though.
