New Theme: Canadiana, or something, eh? (2 Viewers)

A couple updates on possible colours and edge spots w/ a new charcoal $20, both of which I feel help eliminate some of the dirty stack issues or earlier lineups:

Let me know your thoughts!

Why are the maple leaves sideways? I'd put them (both) upright if it were me.

Also, don't forget to play mixed-game poker with these:

Hold'em
Omaha
Stud
Eight-or-Better
Razz

OMG... This just might be the thing to finally motivate me to play HORSE... I mean HOSER! That's fantastic.

I like the idea with the maple leaves too... I'll ask J5 to mock up a version with upright leaves.

Adding two more slight variations to the above two designs:

Which one do people prefer of the four, and why?

So, here's the latest mock-up of the potential inlays (with the previous mock-up as a comparison on the right).

I think we're getting really close here. I have my favourite... what about you guys (and gals)? (the Maple Leaves also still need to be rotated... I forgot that in the last feedback to J5).

Newest mock-up (Left):

In terms of colours, I think I've landed on the above colour combinations for the line-up. The edge spots for the $0.25, $20 and $100 are set - fairly certain on going with 4D14 for the $1 and 4DSQA316 for the $5, but not 100% yet. Getting close though!

What do you all think?

For me it's pretty much a tie between these 2 lineups. Although like you mentioned, maybe 4D14 for the $1 wins it.

And the white inlay with red still wins for me. Color of snow, ice, our flag. Blood on the ice after a hockey fight lol.

Do you have a pic of the full lineup with white inlays, vs the full lineup "color matching" like this one?

I think that would be the last test to see if it makes sense as a whole.

Thanks! After thinking on it, I've decided on the following line-up for sure:

I agree with you on the inlay as well - the white with red text is my favourite atm, but I'd like to see the full lineup with colour-matching as well just to be certain.

At this rate, I think I might be able to wrap this up this week :)

Color (sorry, COLOUR) matching ftw!

Of the two with the white background and red text, I'm having a hard time deciding what looks better. Text with black outline, or rather no outline??

So, I threw the inlay with the white background and red text quickly onto the lineup in the chipdesigntool:

My initial thoughts: It looks great on the frac and $1, but I wonder if it's not too much red for the other denominations. Is colour matching the better way to go in the end??

Of the various colour match options, these are the ones I like the best:

I'll try and get all three mocked up on the full chip lineup and see how they look.

I feel like we're in the endgame now though... getting close!

It will be a great set. But I would change spots for $100. Pink purple vs dg pink / peacock of the $5?
Colours are set and paid for, so no changes there - made it in for the next round of DIASQR by the skin of my teeth (and by the graciousness of David at CPC).

In any case, the chances of our group ever getting $100s in play is pretty damn slim. I more just wanted to get a $100 into the lineup and will only be ordering a barrel of them in the end.

All that's left to be decided is the artwork/inlay. Gotta get that into CPC in the next couple of weeks at the latest - though getting pretty close now.

Keep spelling like that and you'll make "honorary Canadian" yet! (yes, we spell it honorary, not honourary... we're a weird bunch!) :ROFLMAO:

Which colour matching version do you prefer?

I like the color matching with the color gradient. But the white label will work too!

While J5 works on a mock-up with the full line-up, I'm just gonna leave this here....

I will admit that this flip side inlay is 100% inspired from @Chippy McChiperson 's amazing HOF "Bill's Haus of Poker" custom CPC set from a few years back. I loved the idea so much that I wanted to do a "Canadiana" take on it.

This is a first draft from J5... I like both, but I think the design on the bottom left is the winner for me!

While waiting for the next round of mock-ups, I've been thinking about custom dealer buttons, cut cards, etc. to match the theme. Where do people recommend going for these types of accessories? Either US or Euro-based is fine.

Anyone have any experience with getting custom plastic playing cards? I know @sheikh617 had gotten some made up for his awesome Beantown theme, but seemed he was unhappy with the quality. What are the options out there?

I have experience with custom plastic cards, namely from MPC.
My recommendation: don't - at least from them. There sure must be other custom manufacturers out there with a better product.

Material is absolute junk, handling is extremely bad. Super stiff and overly slippery (for plastic cards still), except for when a drop of liquid hits them - then they'll stick together instead like superglued. Also the color scrubs off pretty fast, especially near the corners, leading to marked cards.

I stumbled across MPC last night and it looked interesting. Too bad to hear about the quality and handling issues.

Really, just having some dealer buttons and cut cards would be enough. Cards would be gravy.

I used ABC for mine. A bit more expensive than the Chinese company we used for scrub donkey chips but the DBs are better quality.

I had cut cards made by @MatB and dealer buttons by ABC/BR Poker Pro. Very happy with both.

Mock-up time!

Thoughts? My initial thoughts: I like #1 best. I like #3 as well, or at least see potential, but would like to see red text on the $1, pink text on the $5, arc yellow text on the $20 and blurple text for the $100 just to compare.
