I never knew about poker chips outside of my dice chips, and now I can never go back. What else in your life (let’s say $5-$1k) has been a huge upgrade? (from computer software to key finder to champagne)

Ive seen some great things, stuff in the latest purchase thread, and then some cool stuff in the watches/shoes/music/wine threads. You people are into awesome things and awesome finds, please share your best finds/useful items for others!

edit: also if there’s something the wife/gf can’t live without, I think we’re all always trying to think of the next gift!

I don’t have a ton recently in this regard, hence the thread.

Recently it was nice to be reminded of humblebundle.com for steam games, and also grabbing a shoehorn for the first time at 28 was a life saver. Amazing what a difference a little $1.99 tool can do for you.

Specialty coffee, premium bourbon.
Share more, any specific specialty coffee’s you really enjoy? I’ve been on the hunt for years for the perfect coffee/espresso maker for our house, but my wife (the main drinker) just can’t pull the trigger.

edit: I’d love one year for our gift to ourselves for Xmas or something to be as nice of a real Italian or French or whatever espresso maker, but also don’t want to maintain or clean it:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Also house cleaning service that comes every third week
I think this is HUGE. HUGE. For anyone that hasn’t tried this, and might think it’s ridiculous, give it a go. Even if it’s just two of you in a flat, give it a go.

It’s often not too expensive, and it saves so many headaches and little things, just a nice physical, mental, emotional uplifting to have a deep clean home without the stress occasionally.

Calling it a luxury means you CAN do without it. I might not choose to do without a lot of things. But that is because we can afford them.

How much do we love our cleaning crew? We paid them for the two months they didn't come during shut down just to make sure they would be OK. Can I clean my own floors, change the sheets, wipe down the bathroom? Yes I can. But I prefer not to.

Do we really need two cars? I haven't been a one car household ever. There are plenty of people who don't even have one car.

Fresh fruit every breakfast. Check!

Four TVs for two people? (I have been known to have two sporting event going on two TVs and stand where I can watch it all. Can't see three TVs at the same time.) A spare bedroom for guests? Swimming pool?

Yes to it all. But if push came to shove, I could learn to do without. We worked hard not to have to make such choices. My days of living like a nearly broke college student are hopefully behind me.

Or so I hope -=- DrStrange

Air conditioning and indoor plumbing.

So, basically, yall got more money then me! God I wish I could afford a housekeeper.
Nice update on the profile pic  :ROFLMAO:.

I’m fairly minimalist besides chips but my only guilty pleasure I wouldn’t want to give up is international vacations/travel.

@Josh Kifer try it with someone just once a month. Buy 6 less racks a year and you’re good. You’d even be surprised how much it helps significant other, at least for us with working and the kids and all that, it was one less thing for us to stress or fight about (who didn’t clean what).

What about tools? I’m not a handy person in the least. But it seems like the half the battle and getting into learning is all the stuff needed on hand. At our house we’ve bought various stuff over the years, half of it cheap, and now we have a hodgepodge or half working stuff.

Chip money and Bills money come from two separate accounts...

AND YOU NEVER CROSS THE STREAMS.

I don't travel much, Dallas was going to be my first vacation in 8 years. Hahaha. Oh Covid... You silly bastard.

I really, really like my upgraded backgammon board. Thanks to PCF for the push.

I can live without everything except poker and chips. I'm not exaggerating, and even then, I could probably live without the chips, unhappily.
I dont do social media, except PCF, I drive because I have to work, and I like being at work most days. I dont care one way or the other about tv, I'd rather play poker. I enjoy mowing the grass and weed whacking when it's my turn to do it, I like to change the oil on the truck myself, and rotate the tires. I dont need to eat, if I can play poker and have chips. Although....I definitely think poker and beer go hand in hand, so I can give up something else to keep the brewskis. It would pain me to give up going to dirt track racing, but I could probably do it if I had to. I hardly wear makeup, and I dont care if I wear it or dont, hardly do my hair unless were going somewhere important, like to play poker, just let it air dry (its straight as board anyway) and 65% of my clothes are hand me downs. Dont care. I think I would need running water at least. But in reality I can find that in the woods, along with some foods.
Can I live in the woods with my poker chips?

Edit: I really dont need a computer or a phone either, I'll just wander around with my chips

I will never go back to drinking mediocre tequila. While there are exceptions (in both directions), if the bottle isn't $100+ its probably mediocre.

For the haircuts, do you have a place where you just pay a yearly membership fee?

I need to do pedicures, everyone’s swears by them.

Haircut - I have a standing appointment with my barber @ 630pm every Friday. I just hit it on the way home. $25+tip every time.

Pedicure - Highly recommend. I wish I would haves started 20yrs earlier. You'll feel like a jackass being the only dude in there (probably) the first couple of times, but you get over it.

I've wanted to hire a cleaning crew for the house to come in biweekly, but my wife won't allow it. It would save so many headaches and small fights between my wife and I.

I have a home on half an acre which is huge around my neck of the woods. Weekly landscaping service during the warm months and to clean leaves in the fall has been a life saver.

I have a unique one...barbecued meat. I can taste the difference between store bought steak, burgers, dogs, etc and higher quality meat from the local butcher or high end mail order.

Yes, lol it’s a small fight eraser. I was the one who wouldn’t give in to cleaners, but man I’m glad I eventually relented.

I think good food is a big one. Shoot our kids have no idea how good they have it, good meats/fruits/veggies most meals.

Looking forward to see what my wife is cooking with the meats in Texas, she crushes the cooking.

I really only care about a few things:

Books
Kitchen knife
Board games
Poker (books, chips, adding to my bankroll, ICMizer)
Style
Journals/Notebooks - I keep a commonplace notebook, a budgeting notebook, a regular journal for self audits (diet, exercise, hobbies, and occasionally big ups and downs or for when I'm in a rut) and a poker notebook for book notes, idea mapping, areas to improve, etc.. the poker notebook is a new one as I have just started to get really back into poker.

Outside of that I don't really care about much else.
