Yes! I used to play Mastermind as a kid all the time with my dad or mom. One player guesses the answer and the other player (who sets the answer) puts in black & white pegs giving clues to whether a color is right but in the wrong position (white peg) or if a color is right and in the correct position (black peg), IIRC.

Exactly! Probably a bit slow for kids today but it was a staple for my family when our cabin didn't have internet (dial up back then) or cable.

For these, you are not trapped. You can open the door and leave any time, it just resets your score for that room. It's hard to explain but they are not all "escape rooms" some of them are just fun dexterity games.

I’ve settled on ORATE and USING. It puts vowels at the end to catch those tricky words. It misses L, but it hasn’t been an issue.

The times is totally going to screw it up.

Every time someone opens an escape room in NYC, it gets closed almost immediately by the fire department.
 
I have been loving Wordle.
My wife is a solid 1-guess average better than me. Except today when I got the word in 2 - luck for sure.

I am also worried that the NYT will screw it up, but it was inevitable that it would be monetized by someone at some point.

I think the one word per day thing is genius and keeps you from getting burned out right away.

I tend to use SIREN then sometimes LOATH. My wife starts with SOARE.
 
It's very addictive and fun. My wife is very competitive so it's been daily compares for awhile LOL. Got luck with the fits word guess today as I average VERY HEAVILY at 4 guesses.

I just picked it up on a whim and find it very calming. It’s a damn shame the NYT will put this behind a paywall (like they do everything else) but that was inevitable, I guess.

I’m enjoying it while I’m able. :)

I think they will almost certainly keep the daily word free, but have a subscription option for more words, similar to what they already do for the mini crossword and the spelling bee.
 
Wordle is like the old Game Show Network show Lingo. Five letters is nice, but I think it's a bit simple. I'd love it if it was seven letters. Let's go!

I do play wordle hard mode. Which probably makes it easier for me since I have to think more about my next guesses!

If you get a 1 or a 2, that's just lucky. Unless the word is stupid hard, like "JAZZY", or "CRWTH", three intelligent first guesses should always allow you to get a 6 or less. It's a fun little distraction, I will admit.

I hope you're right. That'd be ok by me.
 
Fun game. I lost the first time I played because I didn't know the rules. I didn't know you could repeat letters and the word of the day that day was 'robot'. But I've figured them all out since.

Here's my distribution so far.
