Why preference for solid fracs? (1 Viewer)

At the casino I work at, only the roulette chips are solid colors. Every value chip has edge spots. In the casino, the higher the denomination, the more edge spots there are. So fracs would have the least, maybe just one or two edge spots. The 1k, 5k, and $25k chips are oversized at 43mm and have up to 10 edge spots.
I've heard of this often enough, roulette having its own set of solids. Any insider insight as to why? Doesn't seem the case in my local Aussie casino. I wouldn't have expected a casino to care if the same chips/set are used for all games.

Roulette chips can be any value. If a player steps up and wants to play $5 per chip, the "dealer" knows that those color chips are $5. Somoene else can go to the same table and play $1 or even $25.

It's uncommon to see roulette played with cash value chips (at least in Vegas).

My belief for the roulette chips being solid are cost. Solids are the cheapest. Many people take one home for a souvenir. By the time all the chips are mucked up and we realize we’re missing one, it’s long gone.

So each of our wheels have their own set of chips. While they share the same colors, each table has their own unique logo. This is to help prevent green chips purchased as dollars on one wheel to go to another wheel and try to be used as $5. At our casino you will see value $5, $25, and $100 bet on the inside numbers and all value played on outside bets.

Woah, that seems more complicated than it needs to be. More chance for errors and disputes. Thanks for insight, is interesting.

I like to use candy and chocolates for pennies and nickels and dimes. My go to are kisses and mini reeses cups. but any small individually wrapped candy could do. Only down side, if your like me, is trying to not eat all the "chips" before you're done playing.
If you want to be fancy, get some of those chocolate coins.
