The Redneck Poker Card Database (6 Viewers)

I don’t believe there are 20 flex modianos. I’ve handled many/most/all modianos except for platinums, and none of them have been flexier than KEMs, in my unmeasured opinion.

I just ran a non-scientific test yesterday: Desjgn Baroque V1 (Modiano) vs Tobago Casino (Cartamundi BE), both top tier in my book.

Eyes closed, I couldn't pick them apart from a texture perspective. Yes, one is bridge, the other poker, but the test was just the feeling of the fingers on the surface, sizing had no bearing on the results. They felt exactly the same, or at least close enough I couldn't pick one from the other.

From a flex perspective though, and that surprised me, I could pick the one that felt more flexible to me every time I performed the test. 100% accuracy. And the shocker: Desjgn Baroque was picked every single time.

The test was different than Dix's: I was just trying to peek the cards, as if I was playing, eyes closed obviously. I was very surprised nonetheless.

Maybe that comparison is just moot as some of those decks were printed defectively. Still, that goes to show the ModiaNO stock flex used by Desjgn. It is a shame that Italian company did shady business with Jason because that stock of theirs is FIRE in my perspective!

Oh, one more thing, those Baroques have a much brighter white than the Tobagos, which is a good thing to me.

You tried Angel Aristo Club before? Just a tiny bit more flex and smoother. It's so fast and feels natural shuffling. Not by much, but noticable. Overall I would probably pick Desjgn Modiano stock though.

For a closer comparison to the poker size Cartamundi cards, I believe the poker size Desjgn Classic Victorian V2 cards (orange/purple/green/brown) are also on Modiano stock. Some of my favorite cards.

Yes. I had a set of those, once upon a time. My first favorite cards

I went to his post history to see when he was last on. He had some pretty off the wall takes. Leopards may have gotten him.
I didn't agree with him politically, but who cares. I really miss life 15 years ago, when we didn't know each others stupid opinions about everything. But I digress. The man put together a resource that I've probably used more than any other on this site. He added tremendous value to PCF and he is missed.

^^ this ^^

Wayne was a great guy and we were pretty good friends dispite the political differences (never been an issue)
He is missed for sure...only thing left is the DB & my PM's.

Happy his resource is still used today (and was able to help him to get plenty of EU manufactured decks in the DB)

I wonder if there's any way to get his testing apparatus and continue his database. I could try and replicate it from pictures but it might not be exact.

If he’s gone he probably had chips and tons of cards, plus his testing setup.
Somebody might get in contact with his family and find out what they are doing with all that.

I have tried to contact him... Unsuccessfuly. His phone was automat secretary...
We do have some members in Portland and I have his adress. Maybe we should try again...

I agree. We should try. If anyone even has his full name, it shouldn't be too difficult to confirm if he is deceased.

Lol I'm not going to be that intrusive. Ya'll go ahead with that if you'd like.
I didn't know him well, and don't know his name or address. If I had been closer to him, I would want to know and would do just that, which is why I put it out here.

So... I saw something peculiar when I was just browsing eBay, still sulking through this rabbit hole looking for things that might not exist and despite thinking I was not seeing the actual items I took notice of here, my eyes widened.

And so I ask all of you...

I'm strictly a bridge guy and I would assume these are just poker size, maybe old packaging and I'm getting excited for nothing, but I've never seen these designs before and certainly never seen the "peek" versions. Still on the hunt for standard index bridge size 4-color decks not done by Modiano. Dunno if they exist. Then I see this.

I remember they existed a few years ago, when I got curious about 4-color setups. I’m not sure if I was anti-copag at the time (not anymore) or anti 4-pip (always and forever, no thanks) but I didn’t buy them. But my point is I definitely remember having a chance to buy them and didn’t. So they have existed.

All 3 of those setups are at least very intriguing to me and I want to find out where the hell these are at, lol.

I tried to contact him any way possible and even reached out to several people via Facebook (and lived in the same street).
Never got any word back....

I searched the obituaries for hours...no hit

Meh. Tracked them down. They are Copag "4 seasons" limited edition imports. None are in bridge size, poo. But apparently they are also marked cards, lol. Still look nice, though.
