It happens every time, but the amount of WTS listings after the most recent Black Friday sale thread has been particularly impressive. It's a good strategy for the sellers too; generate some funds and potentially remove someone from being an Black Friday eligible buyer at the same time!

I've seen a few listings sit a decent prices for much longer than usual. It's definitely not an ideal time to sell, but if you're prepping for the sale you gotta do what you gotta do!

Best of luck to everyone!

I would think most people on here have enough room on their credit card to charge a purchase.

To me it would make more sense to buy the set you want (hopefully) then sell the other set after. There are a lot more buyers than sets available. It would suck to sell a set you like hoping to get one of these and lose out on it.

It's actually just random timing for my listings. I've been clearing outand reviewing my sets lately, and trying to find the right way to clear some chips out of the closet.

I won't be going after any more Horseshoes right now. Probably. But there's always another set to prepare for -- need to keep some space on the shelf empty and ready. :)

Haha yeah, plus when someone like me misses out on the Horseshoes, I just buy up all the Terrible's. So don't worry sellers, just do the credit card thing because odds are I'll be missing out on the Black Friday sale and will then do all the retail therapy in the classifieds in the following weeks (y)

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm sitting the black Friday sale out for the most part. I'm going to try for another sample set since I have yet to snag a 25k primary. I have the 25k secondary in an air-tite and it just looks sad: like it's mocking me for not succeeding in pulling down a primary. I thought I could live with it, but I cannot...

I am very interested to see what people part with. I've already been tempted a few times. I'm sure we'll see an uptick in sales after black Friday as well.

It's hard enough resisting The Chiproom's Black Friday Sale, but the increase in personal chip sales is killing me! I fear that eventually someone's gonna post the deal that breaks me!

I don't get the big interest in the WSOP tournament sets being offered this year. They seem like a pretty uninspired design. What's the appeal?

Perhaps it s only my opinion, but @TheChipRoom is always releasing the best mint Paulson chips ( & used also) at the best prices (y).

And I'm not only talking about the WSOP chips. There were so many before :).

Only thing I would complain about is that there sould be more frequently TCR sales ;)

Thanks !

I think we would all like that, but from what little I know of the whole process it's definitely a matter of having the right contacts, at the right place, at the right time, doing things in the right order. Even then I'll bet he strikes out far more than he succeeds.

What proof do I have? None specifically but a couple of folks have come here saying they contacted Rock Gaming to buy the Horseshoes when the rebranding was announced and didn't even get a response. Not even a "sorry, someone beat you to the punch", but silence. Couple that with getting a big enough property that there's a huge number of Paulsons and it's even rarer. Didn't Jim come here a few months earlier offering ~20,000 nasty ChipCos from some small joint in a single lot? Very little fanfare as I recall. If things like that are all that's out for the taking it makes the rare, big score like Cleveland even more awesome.

I'd also be curious to come up with a map showing state rules for the disposition of chips. Ohio, obviously allows them to be sold. Nevada and New Jersey require them to be destroyed. That right there will help you figure out the possibilities.

Agreed.
Jim has the best lawyers in town, as he wrote himself when he announced the Grand Victoria sale, in 2013 if I remember well.

Are you kidding?
Have you ever seen a WSOP tournament set outside of a casino? Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I bet this is the first time a WSOP set has ever been offered for sale.

I agree that it's a great opportunity for people that don't mind the wierd mold and bland artwork. :) I like the idea of those chips way more than I actually like the chips themselves. Best of luck to those looking to pick up a set.

Nope, not kidding. The design doesn't do much for me so I was curious if "WSOP" was enough to turn most people. Seems that it is! Best of luck to all in getting the sets they want!

Good thing we all have different tastes - things work out better that way. There are lots of chips that people go crazy over that I can't stand. As far as these chips go, I like the inlay, and I'm skeptical about the mold, but I'd give it a chance. If I had a lot more money to burn.

Just an FYI, the WSOP sets are 36mm. It doesnt seem like much, but after handling some at DCS, my impression was that it felt like playing with Rockets (Smarties) rather than poker chips. YMMV

That's what I figured when I saw they were 36mm. Thanks!

Really?
3mm?
I googled it - if you stack a dime on top of a quarter, that stack is more than 3mm tall.

The first time I saw them, I could tell they were smaller right away. I didn't actually play with them so I can't say if it effects how they play/feel.

Well, considering when I play with 43mm chips it feels like I'm tossing Frisbees into the pot and that's just 4mm, I figured 3mm would feel like a similar change in size.

3mm smaller may be a lot more noticeable than expected compared to the larger 43mm since area of the chip drops dramatically with each mm of lost diameter:

36: 1017 sq mm
39: 1194 sq mm 17% larger than 36
43: 1451 sq mm, 21% larger than 39

so even though its 3mm smaller compared to 4mm bigger the % change in area from one chip to the next size up is almost the same.

I think you guys are either exaggerating or you have super finger senses. But I bought a barrel of the 36mm 100 buy-in chips, to see for myself.
