Sun Fly - Atlantic City Boardwalk custom chips - who was in charge of the group buy? (1 Viewer)

Ok. Another question then - how do the Sun fly chips compare to the bud Jones or matsui chips? Better/worse? Different - how? The Sun fly’s look pretty nice.

Honestly, I prefer them over the real thing, but YMMV

The colors are not as vibrant, but they are lot less slippery and also lighter. I think they are a very nice custom option for those that don’t want to go CPC. The hybrids like the old school set are my favorites.

Are these Sun fly?

I just posted a want ad for a sample set of the boardwalks. Sale or borrow, either is fine. I just want to see how those colors look in person. Thanks!

I personally can't stand sunfly chips. I don't like the feel, sound, or the looks of them. I've owned both the 39 and the 43 mm chips. They are all garbage imo.

You asked. I figured that you wanted honest answers. I was just trying to be clear on how I felt about them :)
I certainly appreciate the honest review. That’s a great part of this forum. Honest, no BS information.

So we have our first 1 star review…….. hahaha.
I’ve handled the 39s and owned the 43s. The 39s just felt too plasticy to me. But if you like plastic chips, maybe that’s not a bad thing. The 43s (at least the ones with the smaller inlays) are pretty cool chips. I liked them a lot.

43mm with small inlay are the best ones also in my opinion.

I seem to be in a minority in that I think the 39mm are a good chip. They feel like plastic without the annoying suction, so if you like plastic, these are an amazing custom alternative that can mimic it.

The colors direct from Sun-Fly are great - it will depend largely on the provided artwork. They will also do multiple prototypes to hone in on color corrections prior to doing the full run. Deep blacks as a base color tends to be an issue, but otherwise everything else is great.

I think these are a good option too. 39mm with label size very close to BJ S2s.

I have a large set both 39 and 43 chips.
I think they are both great and I like them better than BJ or Matsui.
I never had Abbiati and I am guessing from review maybe those would be better but the cost diff is crazy.

The only negative about my chips is that the cash set red transferred to the white chips and I cannot seem to get it off.
Here is an old post about it.

I also have some custom BW denoms I can share over PM.

I have a customized set of Sunfly 43mm, from the Prestige group buy. I don’t like them at all. At all. One star from me too. The colors are just ok, but my biggest gripe is that the labels are not well applied. Huge disappointment.

You could probably make better design choices and get a decent product from them (like the Boardwalks). But I regret my one buying experience.

Edit: I just pulled them out of the closet to see if I was being too harsh. Nope. Still don’t like them. Whatever you do, don’t get shiny stickers. Mat finish, textured if available, would make a world of difference. And custom colors would also elevate things.

I’ve always thought that SunFly’s biggest downside was the lack of bright colors.

Says the guy whose self-proclaimed favorite set is the least attractive set of chips I've ever laid eyes on. Go figure...

The difference is he asked for our opinion, I did not. Thank you anyways, I appreciate it

I wasn’t so disappointed in the feel, but the appearance as @JoeBGo stated, the lack of vibrancy, turned me off.
