That's the rumor. But he did log in today, or at least accessed the site. I forget if the software says you've been "seen today" when you access the site as a guest or banned member but from your primary IP address? It might.

So coming back on topic (sorta)...

I don't scour the classifieds as much as I used to but has anyone else noticed that there's basically been not much interesting to buy lately? I'm itching to buy some chips ($100's and $1000's and $5000's preferred) but I just don't see much out there.

There's going to be the Jack Cincy chips hitting the community soon. Those will be on the market and those that want the shiny new toys will sell their old toys.

Of all the ChipRoom sales lately, the Isle chips look really nice. Too bad I'm such a THC snob. :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I don’t think any collectible market works quite like that nowadays. There’s a LOT of money floating around nowadays, and it seems like the people that can afford baubles and extras can also afford to keep them as they acquire more. Theoretically, When you can sell 10% of your supply and cover your cost of the other 90% then you don’t need to sell the 90.

There hasn’t been much interesting to buy for a long, long time now noob :)

Please take this statement, although true, with many, many grains of salt!
 
I've been priced out of any interest in acquiring new chips for a while now. Even the best opportunities to get new sets at "market" prices like Jim's occasional sales are beyond what I am willing to pay. I consider myself fortunate to have been very active during the golden age of chipping when new sets were popping up all the time from multiple sources. Caribbean chips, PNY's, Bud Jones sets, many group buys from China, freelance inlay artists at your whim, multiple Paulson home options like Pharoah's, James Bonds, TH&C etc. ASM, Blue Chip Co., Nevada Jacks, Apache all making quality home sets. It was a cornucopia. I was able to chip and flip like crazy, with many full sets passing through my hands. I ended up with a large custom ASM cash and tourney set I am very happy with, and now, I am a just a "bird watcher", enjoying the chip porn and spectating on the sideline, but have no desire to jump in again at the prices that are now the norm.

Find a set you like and do some pming. Some people are still trading/selling chips at halfway reasonable prices. I'm a thc snob also (with an occasional trk mixed in, but with prices today I'm pretty much priced out unless I find something for a good price outside the forum. I still find interesting buy/trade opportunities with friends sometimes though.
 
^ this. There are still lots of people in the building and trade game that don’t gouge like hell. As long as you reciprocate it’s all cool, cause we are just moving each other’s money around. It’s when you acquire something and then price it out of the community that this doesn’t work.

I can’t buy WW sales because people have gouged the fuck out of him (he’s aware of this but it works for his acquiring style) and as a result he has to sell higher than I’m willing to pay for anything.

I just want to take this space as a noob to thank all the vets who have answered my PMs asking basic questions. Everyone I've reached out to has been super helpful.

I think it's cool to see so many people with a passion for, lets face it, a very random subsection of a subsection of a card game.

I come in peace (and with a shallow bankroll)
