My first job at the age of 15 was working at Staples. I worked there through high school, college and after. I can't imagine how many reams of paper have passed through my hands, dragging pallets of 40 cases with a manual pallet jack (know how heavy those are?) carrying cases out to people's cars, stocking reams on shelves? I've seen my share of paper.

If this is going to turn into a paper confession thread perhaps others should be encouraged to come forward…I not proud of this but when I just started working and studying part time at night, I "borrow" a lot of paper from the copier room to save money
You used up a lot of paper last time when studying.
I ship from home and all my labels have weight on them posted ... But USPS doesn't care unless it's lbs off, not Ozs.i always print my own labels, because fuck any extra time at the post office. so when you use click-to-ship flat rate on usps.com, they don't even ask for a weight, so there is nothing to even put on the label. that is why earlier in this thread i assumed there was no weight on the labels.
but apparently that is not the case if you do it at the post office.
I don’t understand how pictures make any difference. Someone looking to scam can take pictures of the whole process, then send something else. Even a video showing the packing doesn’t guarantee anything.
I think it’s somewhat logical to relax a bit when you have done previous transactions together. In this case it also shows a break of protocol— as seller previously sent pics of shipped packages on prior deals.

Paper is made of cotton. Chips are made of cotton .....

Yes it trains on publicly available information but it's not indexing the web like a search engine does. And even if it did, the last dataset it trained on was from April 2024 so this thread wouldn't be in there anyway. You realize chat gpt scours the web for answers and is likely finding them here, hence the regurgitation
I'm not 100% sure this is exactly true.Paper is made of cotton. Chips are made of cotton .....
@Tonysquander you would have refunded meSabbath is over @SpaceMonkey420
What have you done to further your investigation? Have you filed a police report yet? Filed a report with the USPS? I know if I were blameless I would be doing everything in my power to find out what happened to the chips.
Those packages each come with $100 of insurance. I know that’s peanuts compared to what was lost, but I would make a claim for that as well. The real value would be in getting a whole different department, and even more eyes, looking at this issue in addition to whomever is already looking at it that you’ve contacted.@Tonysquander you would have refunded me
Pretty sure the shipper is the only one who can make the claim. Those packages each come with $100 of insurance. Another red flag if he doesn’t…Pretty sure the shipper is the only one who can make the claim.

Fortunately there's a children's book synopsis already published.I cant read all the posts, especially the long winded ones
I cant read all the posts, especially the long winded ones, so maybe this has been pointed ut already.
It occurred to me that because the weight paper is dead on to what the label is, 100% the labels were printed at the PO. when they were dropped off at the PO. Paid for, Printed, and scanned at time of drop off.
Not sure if this was mentioned but in order for the label to have a weight on it wouldn’t that imply that it was labeled by USPS after drop off? IME shipping Priority flat rate never required a weight even when I do the self service kiosk. Is there no sign of the original label?
If not it seems very easy to swap boxes and stick a label on it since the flat rate boxes are all uniform.
I don’t know why he won’t send me half the money, but I did start to open the investigation with the post office. I even offered for him to send half the money to someone else for arbitration.Seller has no Chips and 5k
Buyer has no chips and -$5k
offer to chop the loss at 2.5k and still open an investigation is VERY fair.
What is taking so long for this to happen?
