My boyfriend (20s) started playing poker with his friends about a year ago and has gotten really into it in the past month or so. I've started playing with him, and it's a skill both he and I want to keep up. He has a decent chip set and mat (though nothing special, just from Amazon) and I want to get him a Christmas present that encourages us to work on our poker skills. He has a gajillion card sets so definitely don't want to do that. Wanted to get some magnetic chips so we can play on the plane together but that doesn't seem to really exist. Would love to do something travel-related but the options seem pretty slim. Highly considering a custom mat from a seller on here (they even have a few NYC designs, which is where we live) but don't have many ideas beyond that. Also considering a card shuffler, but for a laid back weekly game with our law school friends not sure it's worth it. Definitely getting him an "all in" chip as we don't have one in our set, but that's not enough to be his whole Christmas present. Any ideas, finds, or affirmations of the ideas I have would be much appreciated. Thanks y'all!

A nice set of Tina ceramics that someone might be selling would be cool, and step up the game a bit.

I’ll see if I can find some example links, and someone is almost always selling a set.

Another idea is maybe a table topper, custom mat. Several folks on the site sell those too. Including a PCF one.

A cool dealer button is an idea a well.

If you need decor, I can make a poster from any photo (for free) that is made up of poker chips.
You would just send the file to a company to print, and some here on PCF have had them printed on metal and they look amazing.

Some examples in the following thread, and some photos of the metal prints in the later posts:

Budget is the key item. $50 is different from $500 and more so for $5,000.

A lot of the nicest items are custom made and are not going to be ready before Christmas 2025. That may or may not be a deal breaker.

If your budget is on the highest side and if the gift can wait, let me suggest a custom table. Tables are useful for all sorts of game night uses - D&D, Warhammer, bridge, mahjong, board games. We have several custom table makers on this site. My table is from ChanMan - I love it. Not cheap, not fast. one of the best things I bought for my game room.

I am sure there will be plenty of nice things that will suit your needs found on the site. Please do post a few pictures of your gift in use.

You mentioned travel related. You could get him a nice heads up set of chips. The nice thing about this is it's only 100 chips so you can get some nice barrels to make a premium set and not spend too much money. 2 barrels of 1$, 2 barrels of $5 and a single barrel of $25 or 2x $5, 2x $25 ans 1x $100 ext. You can also get a nice case for them off Etsy.

Custom card protector would be nice choice
That's a solid option. I hade one made for me last month. It's my dog on a poker chip. I sent the maker a picture and it came out awesome. Pm me if you want the Etsy seller information.

- A “voucher” for a custom-made product

- A sponsored visit to the casino

- Dealer button and Fourier playing cards

- Playing cards with custom backs

- A threesome
The 5th option is something I've been waiting on from the wife for quite awhile now.

This is super helpful! Sent a dm for the custom mat. The Tina ceramics I'm thinking for a nice graduation gift with his law school's logo or something of the sort.

Wow love these. Thanks for the offer. I may just take you up on it, he works in film so thinking a scene from the right movie would be fantastic. Great stuff!

holy sh*t, yeah definitely putting this on the future list, I do not trust myself to make this well by Christmas but would love to make one before summer travel. Thanks for the share.

Added this to the list! Will pm for link and share some photos when I get it

As do I. People in the biz (still) love Rounders. Just a thought.

By the way, very cool of you to be thinking of a gift like this and querying this forum. Kudos!

I was going to suggest a card protector. You can’t go wrong with something custom, and these are small enough that they can be special without breaking the bank.
