This is correct, and it is in poor form to cancel an auction (with valid bids) regardless. I am not a moderator and if a moderator chooses to investigate the situation they will make a decision. But for future reference cancelling an auction with a bid is the improper way to handle the situation, and can result in moderators taking action.
However, I have seen others do it, some get a slap on the wrist or a warning, and others recieve temporary bans.
I would advise in the future to educate yourself a bit more on the forum policies and be more careful before posting an auction. Sometimes it is better to ask someone else first, who can help or advise you, rather than making an ass of yourself.
Oh I know the policy @FordPickup92, every word of it. And if I'm booted so be it. With the shaming for even having them listed I figured it was easier to sell at cost and end it early, but now I'll get lectured for that. ok then. I stopped ANY AND ALL chance of profiting 1 cent on that deal and did it in public. If Im punished for that so be it.

I wouldn't specifically "Flip" Chipsin peticular, but there are sooooo many here that do and its obvious. But why is it anyone's business if they do flip? or game to criticize if they want to get rid of an abandoned project or find that a chip looked good in a picture but not in their set and in turn make profit??? it all sounds socialistic to me. If your offended or jealous of someone profiting don't do business with them. In case you hadn't heard when you trade your car to a dealer it gets flipped sometimes in hours for hundreds or usually thousands in profit. I recall a post from the big cheese of this forum regarding the price police, it was even boosted multiple times discouraging this practice.

You don't see most transactions that happen through PCF. Most sales take place privately between people who have bought and sold from each other before and often help each other out. This is in no small part because people don't like to deal with flippers. To keep this as an ongoing hobby many members like to buy and sell chips at cost because it allows them to effectively just borrow and trade sets.

There is an element of community here. Some people spend much of their free time here because they enjoy that element. Whatever this site is, it is it was never just a marketplace and has become much more than that. There is eBay or a chip retailers for that.

Many people say they don't utilize the community aspect but still come here to soak up the knowledge that others have been kind enough to leave. Anyone reading this post is utilizing the community. Some people purposefully profit under the auspices of the community element here which can be disingenuous and draws anger.

TBH the whole situation was poor form. It all depends on who you ask though. Some people say that once the chips are yours you do what you want regardless of the opinions of others. I like to think it's better form not to be that way, but to each their own. Actions have reactions, what the masses are trying to point out is that once you are labeled a flipper (I don't give two fucks about this thread and haven't read more than 2 or 3 posts, so whether you are or you aren't, I don't have an opinion to offer either way) it is very difficult to unlabel yourself as a flipper. It will take a long time to change peoples minds based upon the evidence they have seen. Facts or no facts, PMs or no PMs. It will take time to repair the general forums (not everyone as I'm sure some people just don't care) view of you. If you care enough about the hobby, the community and the image your presenting here you will understand that. If not, then it is what it is. I had to learn the hard way about providing an image that equates an honest genuine person, there were bumps along the way. That's part of the learning curve. This is why some stay for life and others come and go in a short span. They just don't care enough about the hobby, or the chips to try that hard. Others buy their way in, but all things posted publicly can be seen by anyone. People notice things, maybe not mention it, but it's talked about behind the scenes.
Perhaps my post has a point to you, perhaps it's jibberish... either way I have little reason to put any more effort into explaining further. And soon I will be yelled at for writing Ben books

Well I've not profited on here EVER. Not my intention. Like selling Used HSI 1's for 1/2 what I bought them for. Instead of thanks I'm surprised I didn't hear I was now undercutting Jim!!! LOL... Anyways this isn't the first time certain clowns have attacked me. And this time its only an accusation of profiteering on something I'm loosing at!!! Its so funny! Everyone preaching about community but acting a fool.

Oh, it sounds like something happened that I was unaware of. I wasn't referring to you. Only responding to your earlier comment in general.

I've profited here, many times. Hope to continue to do so. Never ever have said anything to the contrary. I still aim to get things that people might want at the best price I can provide, which for most times have been lower than, or roughly at, "market value".

Others have profited off me. Glad to have been there. Got what I needed at the time and paid what I considered a fair price. Hope to continue to do so.

I like how on one listing I'm now a flipper... That's fine. There's other places to buy things. everything here is other places too. Honestly I have sold off, and not at profit or very little, which I've rebought here with members or at TCR, or Apache and spinetti over the years. But the Toxicity here can be deafening. Same clowns to. The last thread was special with being called a bragger, deep pockets, best dog, big house best car etc.. That was awesome coming from a clown who never met me heard me say one thing about anything other than an insider I know who can swing us all a deal. I didn't mention the deal because I didn't want to promise anything I couldn't deliver but the clowns attack. This is time 2. Toxic folks here, some same as last. Not all, but damn! I don't take to keyboard warriors, and I don't take to being accused of shit that hasn't happened like I ripped the guy who sold me the chips off. Maybe I need to be a crabby old fuck and rummage through everything they sell and analyze if they scam for profit. And yes @FordPickup92 where's your white space, your punctuation and capitalization? Got attacked and name called for that too. And then, <----white space. Then, they report ME to the mods who must be friends with the clowns who says I antagonized the clowns who started the whole mess. NICE PEOPLE OUT HERE.

So you're a flipper @allforcharity ??? That'll get you hurt here.

Opinions are like A$$HOLE$, everyone's got one and they all stink! Except they keyboard warriors, they suck too.

Yeah, I was off put from a few of my first experiences too. I had so much to learn, and was put in my place until I earned my place. I accepted that I was entering something where other people knew more than me, and I had to earn their respects and trust.
I'm not attacking you, or standing up for you, like I said I don't have 1 let alone 2 fucks to give. They picked on me about my punctuation, it's a test of patience and right now they're winning. While they sleep tonight not even caring about who you are you're ranting about being called out for poor punctuation. Who cares? Not them.
Just trying to offer some insight from someone who made some mistakes and burned a few bridges early on, that has taken some time to repair now. If it weren't for the people here, I'd have bought my PCAs and rolled out. Myself and Ben made connections, and through that friends to which we go and visit. Not everyone here is dapper, most of us disagree about shit (who the fuck doesn't?) but there are some folks on this forum who are nice people.

You come on really strong. Like a wrecking ball. Or maybe a tornado. You must know that.
I don't think there are actually a lot of people here who are going to try to tell you how to behave. And screw them if they do. But if you're constantly a whirlwind, you've got to expect some damage. So chill out. Or don't. But enough with the martyr stuff.

Everyone should do whatever works for them. If I see something I can afford that I’d like, I buy it, sale, PM, or auction.

I’ve had maybe 6-700 transactions here in the last two years. I just finished selling off around 35,000 chips via PM, text, and sales here in the last 3 months.

When it comes to selling, I’ve never made a profit. Not why I’m here. Prices have gotten bananas though, and I don’t like being taken advantage of on prices, so long ago I started selling cheap or giving away via PM with FROR. It’s awesome, creates your own free flowing chip market. Then, some folks sold those chips privately. Made a mint.

Learned my lesson. Now what I sell free FROR I do publicly, and if I have something someone needs, I’ll reach out privately and hook them up.

Everyone has a different style.

Just curious because I am out of the loop. Does that other auction discussion thread we were chatting in relate to the same thing here?

I'm far from a martyr. And wont take shit. But isn't it just easier to scroll on by??? Seriously. Why enter at all? And yeah the nice people are here too. I agree.. but damn ...

Similar discussion, I think, But I don't think I was ever talking about @RivieraDanny
Edit - yeah, I didn't realize he was the one with the Cleveland $25 rack.

As a 30 year law enforcement veteran I can assure you that if the end result of a raffle, lottery or game of chance results in the "Winner" gaining something of value ie. exclusive right to purchase, its illegal, period. **Edit** unless of courseyou have a valid raffle or gaming (on premisis or online) license
Help me understand how a background in law enforcement means you understand intricacies of law? Law ENFORCEMENT is blue-color work enforcing what you’re told to enforce. Many I know in the field agree that they often do not understand the why. Many attorneys and judges I know also agree. Do you disagree?
So this is just another of your posts trying to bait people I guess?? Weird fetish you have my friend!

Unlike some I'm not tagging admins in hope of actions, I'm not price gouging anyone ever, however this was one of the first things I read here. Please put me on your "No Christmas Card List"..........

No one is arguing what you are or are not allowed to do on this site. But what you are allowed to do vs what is right to do are two completely different questions. I am not a fan of the conflation of those two things just as people often conflate what is legal and what is right. I don’t have a dog in this fight but just wanted to make that distinction clear.

That's what the "No Christmas Card List" is for. I've not once trolled someones actions, sales or auctions with the intent of public shaming. One thinking they have "Moral High Ground" can also come with a price.

Someone had an issue regarding a sale of yours, you felt attacked, you created this thread. Not out of “curiosity” or “discussion”, but to share your point and get it across.

Nothing against you, but this specific action is clear as day. It’s fine to want to make or share your point, sweet, but creating a half bs thread to do so and then asking everyone who responds not how you want to scroll by has very poor optics.

I only answered the OP question somewhere above, but regret that and will unwatch after this. Not for someone who is caught up in auctions and wants to pretend to garner feedback, but for chippers who see an auction and are actually curious to their place in this community, just search “auction” in titles.

Well the thread just asks for the thoughts on the issue. Not for personal attacks. Others started the BS on the pink Rack. so in that case, yes, scroll on by. The poll was a serious one for information. no ones "Vote" is exposed. It seems make or share a point is good here until someone disagrees.... Not how the world works.
