Looking for suggestions for a Pineapple Tournament.
Would you change the variants every orbit or every level?
In a specific order or random?

This are the games we usually play in our cash game:
Pineapple
Crazy Pineapple
Very Crazy Pineapple
Lazy Pineapple
Ludicrous Pineapple
Thermonuclear Armageddon Pineapple (8 players max)
Upside-Down Pineapple
4card Crazy Ocean Pineapple

Anyone has ever host or participate to a similar tournament ?

I removed all of the pineapple variants from my game cards.

A pineapple tourney will move slower than what you are used to. Players have to make more decisions.
I was pretty surprised how much slower roll-your-own made our stud game. And this is with apes who don't realize that position is important and will just roll randomly without looking at anyone else's, adds another minute to each hand, minimum. Decisions!

Lazy pineapple is awesome for holdem players. I would make the entire tourney simply lazy p. Imho it’s the best format, easiest for players to comprehend, and the gateway drug to converting holdem players to mixed games.

I’ve done holdem, lazy p, and old mixed game tournaments. Each level is a new game. Some players complained others had a riot.

I've done something similar.

Changed games every level, idea was for the hands to get bigger as the levels increased. Those later games take longer to play, but as people bust out, later rounds contain less people and generally better players they went fairly fast.

It was fun, we will do it again, but not every time, more of a change of pace.

What do you think of playing this kind of tournament pot limit?
Or having it pot limit pre-flop?
Or at least playing the most crazy games (down here) pot limit?
If your players are quick or you have a dedicated dealer then it’s fine and I think preferable, but could slow down even more.

I tried a fixed limit circus game tournament recently and it was pretty unplayable for us. Just way way too slow

I’d recommend that if you are doing a circus tournament that includes games with split pots that you switch to a lineup that doesn’t split pots after the final table is reached. Helps move things along.
