Just a taste for now - I’m knee deep in re-shipping. But I just had to take a few pictures of these babies.

I'm not too familiar with hybrid chips, and I'm too lazy to look it up. What's the difference between these and the standard cards mold?

@LeLe correctly pointed out that hybrid chips have printed labels (stickers), while cards mold chips are printed on the chip itself. In addition, at this time the hybrid chips have a plain outer rim, while the cards mold chips have … you guessed it … a cards mold designed into the outer edge of the chip itself. As well as a circle designed into the chip itself. Side by side differences can be seen in these pictures (39mm hybrids / 43mm cards mold).

The lime green 5c and the pink $2 are my favorites just because of the colors, but many others are close behind.

My hybrid chips have a different image on each side - NUTS logo on side A - blind squirrel on side B. I tried something a little different with these ceramic hybrid chips, though. First, there is a little variation on the edge spot placement. Some chips have the "squirrel claw" edge spots aligned vertically and horizontally (top two chips in each picture), and some chips have the "squirrel claw" edge spots aligned diagonally (bottom two chips in each picture). Second, the edge spot colors are placed differently from chip to chip. Some of the vertical/horizontal chips have the primary edge spot color as the outer two colors vertically, and some have the secondary edge spot color as the outer two colors vertically (top two chips in each picture). The same primary/secondary edge spot color variation can be seen on the diagonally aligned chips (bottom two chips in each picture).

My reason for doing this is to give the chips a little randomness to them. Ceramic chips, because they are mass produced from a single artwork file, typically look exactly the same from chip to chip. My chips have just enough variability to make them seem more individualized. Technically, I guess there are only four different chip versions per denomination, but it's enough to accomplish my goal.

Not sure how I missed this thread! @Beakertwang I spent the weekend with our new set of these and I am absolutely amazed! I have been pushing this with James since I heard of their existence. I honestly believe once a few more get on board with the hybrids that Cardsmolds will be a thing of the past. Absolutely zero spinners that I have found. The bright colors, perfect edge spot matching, the 9 gram weight could be a bit heavier but with the rounded corners they shuffle like a dream!

Not a fan of cards molds as I have seen what happens with some use, new they are great, but when the "new" wears off they start spinning all over the place.

Seriously excited about these... dare I say I like them even better than Sunfly Hybrids, every single label is placed perfectly!

I sound like a Tina Sales person... I realize this, but honestly for the price these trully are "The Nuts"

I really like these. The number of spinners is the only thing that bugged me about the cards molds. That said, they're still a great value. I think I see a hybrids cash set in my near future!

These are great chips! Well designed and well made! Cannot go wrong when shopping with Tina!!

My only problem with them is how slippery they are. I also prefer the texture of having a mold. Just my personal preference. I would advise people to get a sample before purchasing. Having said all of that I will probably get a set :)

I agree about the texture, however it's worth pointing out that without the recessed cards, there's 0% chance of inconsistent dye sublimation. The color consistency is spectacular on the no mold chips. Edge spots on the face of the chip especially benefit from this.

Someone - I think maybe in a different thread - asked for a side-by-side comparison for the 39mm cards mold chips, the 43mm cards mold chips and the 39mm hybrid chips. So here we go. Note that the 39mm cards mold chips (on the left in each picture) were produced back in 2020 when these group buys were just starting. The 43mm cards mold and the 39mm hybrids were just produced last month.

It appears to me that the print quality has improved over the past two years. I simplified the logo design, which no doubt helps with the image looking better than the "old" version. But it just seems better overall. And I obviously made some tweaks to the colors in the past two years. But in general, I think the smooth mold on the hybrid chips lends itself to a better printing result on the chip itself.

If you had to choose between Cards Mold and the Hybrids?
