LOL don't get me started on chips! I was working on designing a set in 2016 and got decently far before I stopped. since I'd forgot about chips, but last week ordered a sample set of the Dia de los Muertos from BR Poker and it restarted my love for them. I need to get back to working on mine for sure.
I was also very interested in a shuffler until I saw the prices. Well 2 had prices, and one "contact for a quote" anything you have to give up your information to get a price on, yeah it's not gonna fit in my budget what so ever lol.
I just came up with the idea to pay an animator to make a video for my timer. I don't plan to change the structures and I guess it is kind of overkill to list the remaining players for what will always be a single table game *doh* Since nothing will change, I just have the 1 video and I can have all the eye candy I know I'll never find in a program. Because poker timers will never be popular enough for any sane programmer to invest the time to make some uber looking one. I'm sure the thought of making potentially hundreds of dollars a year wouldn't be all that motivating. And then I could use something clunky like TD for the backend tracking of tournaments/player/points.
If I actually do that I'll put it on YT and post a link here, with a couple of modifications to the master file it could be changed to fit any tournament. I know I'm in the probably 1% of people who have tourneys who'd even care about such eye candy. But for that 1% something like this would be pretty sick. And best of all it would run on any device that can play video, which is everything out there. Maybe even make it 4k with some Dolby Atmos sound.
I have no data to back up what I'm saying, but I can't imagine the guy who coded TD makes much money off it. How many people/casinos actually need such a complex program to run their tournaments? And for us home people it costs $39 once, if everyone on here bought it that's still peanuts long term. I'd assume TD has to be a side job for him. Even with the $199 a year license for the casinos and card rooms, can't be livable money there. And all the card rooms I've played in I dunno what software they used, but only 1 looked like TD on the screen. So I don't know how modivated he would to work on and release a greatly revamped version 3. And I wouldn't blame him.
And if TD's way bigger than I make it out to be, and he actually makes a living off it my bad
