Tourney Tournament Software Feature Recommendations (1 Viewer)

Hey all!

I'm currently a Computer Science Student, and over the summer I'll have a lot of free time on my hands, been getting into poker over the last couple months, I'm nearing the end of my degree so I'll have a project due at some point.


I'm looking to make a web application (website) that helps people direct tournaments, that being said I'm looking for information on what specific features you wish other tournament software had / has that you'd like to see implemented in mine. Anything even if it seems farfetched I'd love to hear, I plan to have this deployed sometime at the end of the month (21st birthday deploy )



Note: If anyone is curious about the tech stack and such I'll gladly leave it but for short, It's gonna be supabase for the database / authentication since they allow for a generous free tier, if more people use my website than expected I can easily upgrade to a paid tier from there.

Good luck! Automatic seating and dynamic table sizes. Tracking who knocked out who, and bounty calculations.

Below is what many of us use, I would download the free trial and click around, see what they've done. Its very popular but its paid and its not browser based, so you still have room to work.

The ability to add sound files when people bust out, rebuy, break music. Ability to add background pictures and pics of your custom chips for reference on the screen (similar to blinds up app)

Tournament Director is a great program and it has so many options to do just about whatever you want to do with it. It does have a bit of a learning curve but it is IMO the best program out there. If you were able to have all the features of TD, plus add the ability to run or edit the tournament from a mobile device or a computer. That would be a big improvement. It would be much more convenient if I happen to be playing and running the tournament at the same time. No more getting up to make changes on the computer. The nice thing about having a PC to run things is that you can use the hdmi out and run it to a splitter and then to multiple TV's. Being able to run the program on multiple screens is a must for larger tournaments. I also like TD's one time fee.

One thing I really like with blindvalet is that I can show the blind clock on multiple devices. I just need to log on each device to blindvalet. It would be even better if there was an option for other players to log on to a url specific to the tournament which shows the clock, but doesn't grant any controls. Perhaps accessible via a qr code on the main clock. That way, anytime someone shouts "what are the blinds?" I could just answer "scan the f#cking QR!!".

Tell your players to create a user on blindvalet.com and join your club ID. When you register (or allow them to register tournaments them self), they will be able to see this info on their device. You can also upgrade their account/membership from player -> staff, allowing them to register rebuys etc. on behalf of other players.

My biggest issue with blindvalet is that you can't edit the information shown in the main screen during a tournament.

Yes I know, but not many will want to go through that hassle. Would be much simpler if each tournament had a public url showing the clock.

For me, Blind Valet is 80% the way there, but it could be improved. I love Blind Valet because it is browser based. I can use it at multiple venues without needing to port equipment.

But there are a number of little, little bugs that drive me batty about it (Blind templates don't save in alphabetical order, more control over the display screen, no payout templates, occasional bugs when balancing tables, etc.).

One thing I wish BV did better was seating. I wish there were drag and drop options for seating. In some of my games, for example, we have volunteer dealers/players, and we sit them in seat 1. It would be great to put them in seat 1 without needing to go through menus.

Yea, I'm still trying to learn software. If anyone can make a similar program more use friendly that would be helpful. I currently use Blind Valet only because its easier to use for 1 or 2 tables. I would use TD for any tourneys over 2 tables for sure.
