Calling all The Tournament Director gurus!

I'm new to running The Tournament Director software. I've figured out most everything about setting up the basics, busting out players, rebuys, blind levels, payouts, etc.

Now I want to do some minor customization of the Tournament Screen. Nothing too fancy, I'm going to keep most of the defaults in place. What I do want to do is to change the "Chips" cell and replace it with a cell of the same dimensions and colors, but with the "Rankings" token instead of "Chips". I want this to take effect after the rebuy period ends (Level 12).

I've played around a bit with this in the Layout tab, including editing or copying the "Chips" cell, but my results end up with a cell that doesn't have a background color, or is a different shape than the original "Chips" cell.

Here are the screens in question:

Is there someone here that could please explain the process to do this (clearly, thoroughly, step by step)? A video would be awesome, or we could set up a Zoom or Teams session if you are open to that.

Any feedback or direction is most appreciated.

I've searched on The Tournament Director Forum, and asked the question there as well. 24 hours, and only 4 views (at least 3 of them mine) and no replies. I'll give it a few more days before I declare defeat there.

I did make some progress. I have created a test layout, and replaced the Chips cell with a Standings cell (<rankings> token) and Bounties Earned cell (<hitLeaders> token). After some trial and error, I got the cell background colors set up properly (alternating dark blue and green on odd and even rounds).

I am having a few issues still:
  • As more players are knocked out, both the Standings cell and the Bounties Earned cell increase in length, forcing the bottom cell (which displays the prizes) off the bottom of the screen
  • The text in the Standings cell is smaller than text in all of the other cells, even though the properties screen shows them to be the same font (Note: I fixed this using token properties)
  • As more players are knocked out, the Standings cell width increases, taking up around 1/3 of the width of screen (from about 1/5 of the screen)
  • If I use Column Headers (Rank, Player, Round Out, etc.) the Standings cell width increases a LOT, taking up almost half of the screen (making the Clock and Blinds cells considerably narrower)
  • The Standings cell contents are justified to the far left of the cell, whereas all other cells have the content center justified.
For the first item, I'm thinking that I need to somehow fix the cell height, and then program it so the overflow is scrolled or hidden. I still need to learn how to do that.

For the last three items, I need to somehow change the properties of the <rankings> token so that it is centered, and does not pad the cell contents to create a wider cell width. That will probably be the more difficult task.

Well, I managed to accomplish what I wanted, and found ways to make the text centered, the columns narrower, and the screens change based on whether any players were knocked out of the tournament.

Lots of it I had to figure out on my own, but some of the solutions came from Corey Cooper, the creator of The Tournament Director. The whole process was documented on the Tournament Director forum.
