Tournament League Runners,

I’d like to gauge interest in a simple idea:
qualifying players from PCF members' home tournament leagues to participate in occasional inter-league tournaments.

Getting something like this off the ground would obviously require consensus around a number of details, but before going anywhere near that, I want to answer a more basic question:

Is this something league organizers here would even be interested in exploring?

My initial vision is that inter-league play would be aimed at amateur players — people who make a living at something other than poker — which I suspect describes most of us here on PCF.

At this stage, I’m only looking to understand whether there’s enough raw interest to justify taking next steps. If there is, I’m happy to help drive a structured discussion later.

If you’re interested, please reply and share a bit about your league (and feel free to point to any public info you already have available).
For reference, you can learn about my league via the website linked in my post trailer.

For now, I’d ask that we not dive into specifics or brainstorming details just yet. If the interest isn’t there, it’s better to learn that first.

What say you??

I'm in. Been kicking around a similar idea.

About thePokerClub (Yorba Linda, CA):
  • Monthly tournament, 14-18 players
  • Pointed season format (LeaderBoard with wins, cashes, bounties, participation)
  • Running 3+ years, currently in our Race-to-100 Series
  • Private club - all members know each other (dads from school/sports)
  • More info: thepokerclub.org
What makes this interesting to me:

We already do something small-scale - I partnered with another local club so our members can earn participation points playing in their events (and vice versa). It's been a good way to give players more opportunities without me hosting more.

An inter-league tournament takes that further. I could see a format where each club sends their top 2-3 LeaderBoard finishers to represent if local to each other. Obviously, geography is tough between us so open to online, etc. Adds stakes to the regular season beyond just your own club's championship.

Count me as interested in exploring.

Whenever I'm able to run a club, I considered trying to find a way to run a multi-day tournament, where each club ran an event up to a certain point, then combined for a day 2. It adds the satisfaction of a bag-and-tag, and allows for a larger prize pool.

What were the odds that a league runner from the left coast would respond to this right coast post?!!! Too funny.

I wonder if @TheRealStephen12 is from Kansas City (big city, middle of the country) and could host the interleague championship?? Or are there any PCF league runners in Kansas City?? Or, any PCF member who would open their poker room to a multi-day tourney?

I see that KC has a baseball team, a football team and casinos! Wow, I think we're onto something here!!!

If this post were to get enough interest, I would start a separate thread to start the organization process.

I’m a college student in the east coast. I meant in a few years when I have adult money to fund and run a club in the first place. Give it a few years and maybe I’d give it a shot, though.
