NLHE How many Royal Flushes have you hit? (1 Viewer)

I've hit a K-high spade straight-flush playing a table game at a casino, but never hit one in Hold'em. However, I have dealt one and it was very early in my dealing career (and apparently, very early on in a player's playing career).

I was the designated dealer for a home game tournament and the second hand of the night, I flopped :as::ks::js: (I forget what pre-flop action was, but it was minimal). After the flop, SB bet, BB raised, two players (including button) called, SB called. The turn was :jh:. SB bet, BB moved all-in, everybody called. The SB had :ax::jx:, BB had :9s::8s:, one player had :ax::kx: (I have no clue why he called), and button had :qs::ts: for the royal flush. I'll never forget, he never once bet the hand, just called, and took out two players and all but eliminated a third (one of the three players had won first hand, I forget which).

At the time, I didn't know how rare it really was. I've dealt a lot since then and have never dealt another one, never caught one, and I believe I've only seen one hit at one of my tables, but been around a couple times when one hit at another table.

Two this year (one at a Meetup), but that has been nicely balanced by losing to both a royal and a king high SF within a half hour in Detroit.

I think the royal was in one of these crazy games that we have 11 flops, or something like that lol.

I believe I’ve hit two Royals (each during chip meetups playing NLHE). both from the MTTD events (2015 and 2016 respectively)

Here’s one. 2015

The other royal in 2016

However, this is the craziest hand by far I’ve ever hit.... was in my BB (defended a min raise) and it was all in 4 ways by the river, and I didn’t raise or bet once... oh the odds. Gotta be worse than a royal...

Never a royal.
1 SF in limit HE
1 SF in circus games (dramaha)

BUT did see back to back RF in two consecutive hands about 12-14 years ago in a game in Vegas. That was wild.

Once using 1 card.

One other strait flush.

This post reminds me of the "Are Some People Luckier Than Others" thread......I've never hit a Royal......possibly a SF online once....seems like people have either hit multiple or none at all.

How many hands have you played? Might be a numbers thing.

I hit my first and only Royal at the Icelandic meet-up.

I was the last person at the table to notice... I just thought I filled my straight.

a lot.....been playing NLHE home games for 10+ years now

Cool. I started playing with buds 25 years ago. But we only played 6-8x/year. I started playing more serious 6 years back and now I’m playing at least 8x/mo live. And daily online. Pretty sure that’s a big factor in hitting crazy hands.

hopefully I've got an abundance of crazy hands coming my way! I don't think I've ever even hit quads in a live game.....

I've been dealt eight royals, lifetime, not including play money or games with wild cards.

Four in NLHE: one live and three online, IIRC. One of the online royals was a tourney, and all the rest were cash. The first one has a giant asterisk, but it still counts IMO.

Home game with inexperienced players. First hand of the night, I get dealt :kc::jc:, flop the flush, and turn the royal. Only after the entire hand is dealt out and I'm scooping the pot does anyone realize that the dealer dealt the entire hand out counterclockwise, so the royal should have belonged to the guy across from me.

Four in other games: one in Dramaha (Omaha side), one in Double Board Omaha, one in Big O, and one in Omaha High-Low. The first three were live, and the last was online (at a PCF game, no less). Also worth noting: I ended up with some kind of split in every single one of my live non-NLHE royals, though I did scoop a large main pot with the Big O royal (we ran it twice for the side only).

I've been playing NLHE roughly once a week since 2008, and I've never had a royal.

I'm expecting my first at SQM next month.

Thats reminds me of the first time I saw a straight flush:

One of my earliest live NLHE games. All players, including myself were very inexperienced. A player hit a straight flush, but lost to a player with the top end of the straight flush. A third player also had a flush.

It was a brand new deck.

Ever since then, I make sure new players know how to shuffle. Like I said, we were new. So new, that the two straight flushes didn't get it all-in. :bag:

Wow
Our crew has been playing a minimum weekly for 13 years straight and we have NEVER had a royal flush in my house. Period.

Edit: We are talking about 13 years worth of NLHE exclusively. Obviously a RF in other games has higher odds of hitting

I hit one SF in Omaha about 5 years ago, but never in NHLE. I've been playing for ~20 years, and regularly the past 12 (~2 times a months for 3-5 hours a clip), 1000+ hours at the table, mostly home games. I think I've seen 3 of them, all cash games - 2 by the same guy too. One I was unfortunately involved in the hand, ran my flopped quad queens into runner runner RF..... :vomit::vomit: :banghead::banghead: First hand of the night too, lol. I think we've had a handful of straight flushes, but I haven't hit one of those yet either, my best hand to date is those gross quad queens, best winner was quad jacks.

I hit one in a $15-30 limit hold em game in nyc a while back. Game was crazy. I was in cut off position and every street was capped before it got to me. I was able to put it one raise on the river to cap it. Got maximum value for that game with 6 ppl calling the capped bet on the end.

I hit royal flush #9 last night. Woo-hoo!

Game was SHESHE (a.k.a. Little SOHE). I put :ad::qd::td: on my SHE side and :3c::4c: on my HE side. Board ran out :3x::8x::9x::jd::kd:, and I was betting all the way, so the pot was a good size on the river.

I made a big bet on the end, and my opponent tanked for a while, eventually revealing that he had a T7 straight in SHE. I also deduced that my pair of 3s was no good in HE, so I went crazy and exposed my royal while he was still tanking. He almost insta-mucked when he saw it. So, although I didn't "get action" on the hand, I stole the other half of the pot, and that's good enough for me.
