Hi everyone. Brand new to PCF and liking the knowledge and passion as well as personality of this forum! Blown away!! I split my time between Manila in the Philippines and Hong Kong. Looking forward to PCF meet-ups in either of those cities.

Not yet a collector as been a bit of a one woman guy if you get what I mean. Am a big fan of the classic old school names.

that’s it for now!!!

Welcome! I too am interested in what the poker scene is like, particularly in the Philippines. Do you travel for work or personal reasons?

Welcome! What's the poker scene like in those countries. Casinos or home games or both?
With Coronavirus getting a lot more home games. Haha. Basically in HK because it is convenient to get to the poker rooms in casinos in Macau, very serious players looking for great cash games head there.
Manila has a mix with casinos but now home games much more popular.

Travel for both work and personal. Poker in Manila is more social for me, range of home games was crazy hot maybe 10 years ago has settled down a bit now.

you will also get great games and action at the casinos in Manila, locals and tourists.

Interesting! Thank you! I would imagine casino tourist players can get a little reckless....would think that to be fun for someone who plays regularly!

My next question however is of course, what about the chips?! Any idea if the casinos are primarily Paulson? Or plastic/ceramics? Do you have a personal preference?

(For seasoned members, yes I know, I could probably check the chip guide)

From what I can tell, Manila similar to Macau, they don’t use Paulson. Or at least I haven’t seen. Makes me wonder now if they use Paulson or other high end in the VIP gaming areas/ ultra high limit and “regular” chips in mass and high limit.

Hmm that's definitely a thought. I wonder though how cost effective that would be to run 2 different manufacturers of chips, or if that is a general norm

Is there a resource on the forum for newbies eg poker chips for dummies, poker chips 101, or a glossary of sorts? Thanks in advance!!
