I had these custom ASM's made 11 years ago. I have been really pleased with them and received many compliments. However an issue exists with dirty stacks. I know a lot more now than I did then about spot progressions and colors. @Johnny5 did the inlay, and I guess I should have had him do the colors and spots also but never thought about it at the time. I was having too much fun using the design tool.

Problem is, the $5's and the $25's share too many colors, leading to the dirty stack issue (see pics). I would like to have the $25's remade to solve this problem. Others have suggested it would be easier to fix the $5 chips rather than the $25 chips. However, I have four racks of $5's and only two racks of $25's. Financially, it would be better to fix the $25 chips.

I posted this several months on Chip Donkey but not here. I got some good feedback but still haven't made a final decision. I have posted my three favorite designs from the previous suggestions on CD. Please forgive me for not giving credit to the designers, but with CD gone I have no way to know who designed the mockups.

I would appreciate any other suggestions on changing the $25's to avoid the dirty stack problem.

First pic is the current design.

I was around to see these come to life on CT all those years ago and it's great to see you still chippin'.

I think a big problem will remain as long as you maintain that green color as the base. Have you considered a light green? Another fun idea is to run an 'alternate' rack and maybe do an orange $20 base chip which works really good in cash-based environments.

Nice to see you again also. I was inactive for a very long time until about 10 months ago.

$20 chip is a viable option. I have never played a game in my entire life with a $20 chip so I have no base of experience to judge this on. But, it seems to be a good option that would still let me use the $25's if needed in a larger game.

Comes back around to the $5 chip as the problem child.

The $5 is the root of all evil here, but I guess it's much more expensive to replace, being the most numerous chip.
If only its green spot could be replaced by almost any shade of orange or some shade of blue/blurple, or even gray/charcoal...

Mike, if he 's going to dump the 25, the 20 must avoid all reddish/orange hues like hell.
I would go with your light blue edges plus blurple ones.
Edit: Btw, it shouldn't be a crime, in a custom set, to have a yellow 25, if that's the value @DoubleEagle wants.

I'd go with a white $20 - with green and yellow on the $5 - you need to avoid those two base colors for the next chip.

I think @Perthmike nailed it in his second line-up (white, light blue and maroon are among my most loved combinations)
Here's also what I talked about a few minutes earlier - distinguishable from the $5, because, as @Perthmike said, it's a different yellow, and spots are "cold" colors, not warm ones.

That could look good.

See above.
The yellow and green on the five really hampers you from standard $20-$25’s
I say go whole hog and redo the $5’s.
I really like your $25’s.. REALLY like them.
How much is a couple racks going to really hurt your budget in the long run.
Many have said it before and I will say it again:
Don’t skimp, get what you want.

Regardless if a new green $25 or a new yellow $20 (and either one would work imo), the new chip's base color absolutely should not match the corresponding spot color on the existing $5 chips, and the second spot color should probably not be in the red family.

I think a light yellow or light green base with blue and/or bright white spots is probably best to avoid confusion, and stll mix well with the other chips..

Alternatively you could also opt for a one-color edge combo in the form of a 3ds316, 4ds316, or a 614 for the 25. Although we as chippers tend to only go up in complexity in terms of spots and color combos as the denoms progress, there are plenty of instances in the casino world where a 3 color red $5 goes to a 618 single color quarter.

Might make fitting the quarter in easier to do by removing a color altogether from the combo possibilities. Just something to ponder.

You are all about to convince me of the need to re-do the $5. Ideas?

Also, would my existing $5’s have any re-sale value, perhaps as a re-label project?

I didn't want to say it but...yes I love the quarter, which is saying a lot because I generally didn't like ASMs green spectrum back when these were made. And I also don't generally like green spots on red chips.

Since you have them in the quantity of racks I'm sure you could sell your currents in the classified, but others versed in the trading/buying game will chime in on their value.

I think if you moved the $5 edge spots into the orange/fire/brown hues you'd have a MUCH improved and almost perfect color range through your chips.

@David Spragg says the H mold will be installed soon and orders need to be in within 48 hours.

If I go with a $25 re-design I am leaning toward this one. Thoughts?

I’m not married to either option so still open to suggestions. I just need to make up my mind or wait another six months or so for the H mold to work it’s way back.
