My Journey As A Professional Poker Player (37 Viewers)

Our rake is $5 plus $2 jackpot drop. But if you run it twice they're doubling the rake
Man, rake + drop is so gross. Like it's not enough to be taking up to $5 out of every pot, they have to also snatch $2 for promotions. Even a $1 promo drop is annoying, but this new norm of dropping $2 per pot is ridiculous.

I hope the promos are at least fair bets for everyone and not just a gift to certain groups of players.

Is that +EV in the long run since that 5 goes into your pocket vs the pot?
It is +EV. You're getting whatever your opponent's equity share of the $5 in extra rake would have been, if you hadn't RIT.

This is actually a pretty good way to make a little extra, if you're up against someone who's obsessed with RIT and willing to pay for the privilege.

I think it depends on the size of the pot. A big enough pot is not worth running twice when you are ahead enough. Just take it down
This is not how EV works. Running it twice (or any number of times) doesn't change either player's EV at all, regardless of the pot size.

Little 1/2 PLO

Wait... was the increased rake at the Hard Rock?

If so, your taking a seat was the equivalent to saying "more rake is better". Telling the manager (directly, so as to avoid speculation) "Nope, I'm going elsewhere for less rake" is the only way to avoid a $6 rake in a few years.

Unfortunately Hard Rock is my only option if I want to do this for a living

Other rooms rarely or never get PLO

What a dumb move. Running it twice reduces variance which keeps more people at the table playing pots that generate rake. Now there is an incentive to not RIT so variance will go up and games will break faster with pros winning most and probably taking it out of the game. When the game breaks rake = $0.

You think casino brass have that much foresight or longevity desires for poker? Have to get rid of the tables so more slots can go in to get that sweet, sweet, pensioner money.
