I thought I won the auction, but... (2 Viewers)

I kindly and sincerely invite you to execute an open, public group buy to obtain Paulson Chips on the THC mold from GPI. I - and I'm sure others as well - would be truly grateful if you could show us by way of live demonstration a better way to do it.

Come on! We gotta keep going. This stuff is the only reason I get on PCF anymore.

I think that’s oversimplifying things a bit. I’ve only heard stories, but I believe it’s safe to say that the buyers were not clear with Paulson with their intention to buy chips AS A BUNCH OF PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS.

I speculate too, but I'd be amazed if the buyer was not a corporate entity, rather than private individuals. And corporations do not normally provide a list of stockholders as part of their business transactions...

However, when Tommy was asked to weigh in on a rule that he put in place, as the only real authority on the site, he opted to plead the 8th.

I did make a suggestion.

Citing rule #8. :p

I would suggest awarding it to the bidder per the rules that were stated in the FP.

I think we all can agree it was an honest mistake. I believe it was anyway. It was only noticed by pretty much everyone (including myself) AFTER the auction was over. Maybe someone did notice it prior and was trying to use it to their advantage? Who knows right?

I made that suggestion because I don't believe in changing the rules of any contest/auction/game etc. after its over. We just can't pretend the 5 min rule was there because it was suppose to be. If someone alerted myself or any of the Mods that the listing did not follow the auction guidelines, you can rest assure it would have been addressed. I would recommend contacting the member first before us. Give them a chance to fix it. Please don't expect me or the Mods to read every single post either. We mention that in the TOS too.

Although the administrators and moderators will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages.

Its up to the seller on how he wants to proceed. I can't force him to sell the chips to anyone. Would everyone feel better if I went Gallagher on his noggin for not posting the listing correctly?

Oh good christing poop, why would you argue semantics like that? The words you have used are more accurate. Do you think the distinction has any useful relevance?

It sure as hell does. How many PCFers do you hear bitching about a PCF sponsor currently buying and marketing GPI "promotional" chips? Do you suppose he's going up to his Gemaco rep and explaining just how he plans to sell these to a group of individuals?

No, because he's not stupid enough to do that.

Right! So you agree with the thrust of what I said above - that the group buyer didn’t tell GPI that the chips weren’t actually intented for a ship’s casino:

Wil someone lock this thread? Personal attacks by OP on a great seller for 7 pages and moderator repeating himself over and over about how the seller fkd it up? This is embarrassing to say the least. PCF is better than this.

the group buyer didn’t tell GPI that the chips weren’t actually intented for a ship’s casino:
I have no direct knowledge, but I would suspect that the order was merely placed after establishing contact and inquires regarding options. I mean, seriously, think about it -- one business entity places an order with another business entity. Order is reviewed, approved, paid for, produced, and shipped. Who the hell is stating intent on ANY order in the business world? That's crazy talk.

Whatever.
I’m not looking to implicate anybody. I was just foolish enough to try to sort through the facts because I thought it might get us somewhere.
Never mind.

I don't know what you mean by all this? Anyone off the street can buy these promotional chips and use them as business cards, souvenirs, ball markers, drink tokens, or even poker chips. Granted, there is no need for him to explain how he is planning to sell these chips, but there would be nothing wrong or stupid if he chose to.

I am curious. What do you think is the O/U on the number of people who have contacted GPI over the last month with some type of inquiry about doing a group buy?

I have no personal knowledge of any restrictions that Gemaco may have in place regarding the resale of purchased promotional chips. I doubt you do either.

But if there is such a restrictive clause, it would indeed be pretty stupid to announce to them one's intent to do so.

Whatever.

From what I understand one person, and one person alone, knows 100% of the facts. And my guess is they are taking them with them to their grave.

There's really nothing to sort through, and it was probably kept that way by design.

I have spoken to the sales department and they gave me that information directly. They did not mention any resale restrictions, but did say that golf courses and other companies sell the chips as promotional souvenirs. The reason the colors are limited and the spots are all the same is because those are the chips that they are comfortable selling to the public. I thought about doing some bounty and seating chips but decided against it. I would assume a larger size order could probably get bulk pricing

Remember, you called dibs on movie rights! Get the details and get producing!!

I know the situation (of the OP, as I see the thread derailed?), I even bid in that thread, but I haven't read all the comments so excuse me if I'm overlapping.

To answer the OP, let's be honest no you didn't think you won the auction! You were under the under the impression of the 5 min rule, and so were all of us. You were ready to bid higher, so was the other bidder, and perhaps other people as well (incl. me?), so it's all theoretical as to who would have won if it indeed had the standard 5 min ruling.

For the record, without the 5 min rule the "official" winning bid is yours at 2:28. But this is a community, and in auctions extended beyond closing time due to bidding wars, I have not seen people counting the seconds but rather it arrives to a point where one party states he's out and congratulate the winner. And in these cases no one cares if it's 4, 5 or even 6 minutes.

Having said so, the most logical thing to do is to run the auction again with PCF rules, and give everyone a fair chance. And it can even be limited to the last 2 bidders
